Vote

Obviously this is a topic most like to stay away from. But this upcoming election is the most important one that could change the destructive direction that we are going in. I don't like religion, but could never condone what happened to 11 Jews being slaughtered in Pittsburgh. Conservative christians vote republican and that party can be aligned with terrorists now. The demented trump supporter that tried to bomb 13 people and tried to assassinate two former presidents was lead by trump's violent rhetoric. He MUST be stopped and the only way we have to put a stop to his crazy agenda is to turn the mid-terms blue.
We can disagree on religion here and our lack of belief, but we should all be united in voting against a person who appeals to christian loons and sick minded individuals!

Donald Trump has unleashed white nationalist hatred against blacks, Latinos, Muslims - and now Jews.

This hatred has led to neo-Nazi marches, internment camps, separating children from their parents - and murder.

Trump and his angry Republican allies refuse to take any responsibility for fanning the flames of hatred - or make any serious effort to stop it. We can! VOTE!

It does not take a lot of

It does not take a lot of intellect to see what trump has done and is doing to this country. You obviously are either a trump supporter or don't have a clue as to what is going on.

He is a liar, racist, narcissist, pedophile, rapist, white supremacist, conspiracy theorist, sociopath, has no compassion for anyone, has overturned most all regulations, the Johnson amendment repealed, ruining the environment, guilty of treason, tax cuts for the very wealthy, wants to gut social security and medicare, medicaid, mocked disabled people, grabs women by the pussy, has concentration camps for immigrant children who are molested by ICE agents, hates Muslims, Latinos, Jews, Haitians, African Americans, Gun advocate for the NRA, a twitter ranting moron, colluded with russia, shredded the constitution and gave the country the finger! His hateful rhetoric has caused mass shootings and murder with his words and hate filled speeches, and let's NOT forget about his wall! However he has brought his Lesbian porn star wife here illegally and then her parents. The wall should be built around him, which would be a jail cell.

Lock her up? No lock him up for life!

The GOP and the christians are as one!

I don't like people that make light of what I and others that have to live in this country have to endure from this NAZI!

If you are an Atheist and are for the GOP, you are ignorant! And as for the flag, burn it with the bible! I really don't give a flying fuck if anyone here doesn't like this.

I hope there is a blue wave and they all drown in it!

Fuck your guns too! I am sick of living with this kind of shit!

Yeah. Due to the really

Yeah. Due to the really terrible mess we are in, I am definitely going to start voting... FOR ME!

Here in America we have the right to "write in" any person we wish to vote for. Thus, every election, I am writing myself in as the candidate for which I am going to vote.

Hell, I couldn't fuck this country up any worse than it already is. Even if I tried to fuck it up.

Thus, vote for ARAKISH.

EDIT: P.S. — And I am serious as a heart attack. I ain't joking...

Living in a battleground

Living in a battleground state here in the USA, and being registered as an independent; has attracted a large number of political peddlers to my door over the last couple of weeks. This has afforded me an opportunity to play a kind of cruel game:

I pulled up the financial filing of the two major parties candidates for the national senate and house; and made a cheat sheet to keep near the front door. Now when they come to the door and want to discuss the merits of their candidates, my wife and I have some pre-made hard questions to ask them. For every second you can make the peddler look like a deer in the headlights, you get 1 point.

Dang, that is a cool one.

Dang, that is a cool one. Well, because of my sign, I don't get any solicitors of any kind anymore.

Update: Now Brazil has his

Update: Now Brazil has his own Trump. The guy was supported by guess who?... Evangelical churches.

I will maybe start a thread on why people, despite of claims of wanting liberty and equality, still want authoritarian, unequal, conservative societies often supported by our favorite religions.

I feel like, increasingly, especially religious people, like being told what to do.

As long as it is done in a semi clever way, like: "I am not telling you what to do, but invisible man in the sky that is going to judge you at the pearly gates is telling me to tell you what to do.

Or: "I am not telling you what to do, but I will invent an illegal immigrant boogeyman that will scare you into doing what I tell you to do about it." (That so happens to align with their greater agenda of lining their own pockets and that of their rich benefactors.)

On its face: why would anyone vote for a claimed billionaire thinking that: someone this obscenely rich person has the voter's best interest in mind after they vote.

Fortunately I have the time to deeply research the candidates and ballot issues, and the resources/time to actually vote. Voter suppression is also a real problem. Mail in ballot works, really well, just the GoP knows that the more people that vote, the more likely they will lose. The more informed the voter is the more likely get rich(er) money making schemes will be stopped. We should nationalize mail in ballot, to keep voting equitable. It just so happens an equitable vote means massive losses for the GoP so the GoP will try to suppress to vote as much as they can possibly get away with.

Sucks about Brazil, sure feels like the world is increasingly going extreme far right. A scary thought.

I am for a protest vote, or voting 3rd party, but I am also aware that in tight elections, a vote for 3rd party may well be a vote that allows the far right to win. The "left" breaks ranks far more often than the right does. Most far right parties are very well financed and well run, making their base voters highly effective concentrated voting force, whereas the left is fractured, with people torn between voting for the lesser of 2 evils as well as breaking up the current GoP total control grip on all branches of the federal government to the realization that corruption, pandering to the elite also occurs on the left just not at the scale that occurs on the right.

Logic, you commented, “I feel like, increasingly, especially religious people, like being told what to do.”

I think you’re likely correct and I think it’s because it’s, one, easier for them, and two, they get to shirk responsibility if it goes south.

I can add that in France,

I can add that in France, people who who vote for the traditional right wing party, Les Républicains, are increasely liking the daughter of the far right party's leader than its own leader.
