@Jackson5
You left out the examples that followed each of the definitions you linked, which support what most people here have asserted. I have emphasised the important bits you forgot to include.
1. A pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.
‘consumerism is the new religion’
2.something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience:
'to make a religion of fighting prejudice'
3.an activity that someone is extremely enthusiastic about and does regularly:
'Football is a religion for these people'
.
You do understand that neither consumerism, fighting prejudice or football are real religions? Neither is atheism.
To anyone who is interested the author of this thread has posted one response out of the 31 posts it now contains.
JACKSON5 is a troll, he's started 3 threads now, and never responds to posts addressing his religious rhetoric.
@Sheldon Re: "JACKSON5 is a troll, he's started 3 threads now, and never responds to posts addressing his religious rhetoric."
Haven't you noticed? J5 doesn't respond directly himself because he has his sock puppets responding for him.
@Tin=Man
I had not, I must the slow child in the class, too much booze has finally killed off enough brain cells to tip the balance. To be fair there was a certain inevitability to this, ah well, time for a small libation, if a job's worth doing etc..
@Sheldon...you’re one ahead of me!
Internal voice *I can't do it. I can't do it.Banging my head on the table. "Bad Cog, bad bad bad!!" *slipping off into unconsciousness once again!*
It's petunias time again ...
This is going to be hilarious, as per usual with the dribblings of mythology fanboys ...
Oh dear, it's that favourite pastime of ignorant mythology fanboys - argumentum ad lexicographium. Yawn.
Did you even READ that definition? Which begins with:
Which is the exact OPPOSITE of atheism?
Or, the second part, which reads:
Which again, is the exact OPPOSITE of atheism, for reasons I shall come to shortly?
Again, did you even READ your fucking link? Which opens with the following:
Again, the exact OPPOSITE of atheism. As is the next three definitions provided in that link.
Again, did you even READ your fucking link? Which opens with:
Again, the exact OPPOSITE of atheism.
But of course, this is part of the problem with resorting to non-technical sources. Dictionaries are compiled to provide lay or colloquial definitions of words, as used in everyday speech, NOT rigorous definitions of concepts as applicable in a proper discoursive environment. But this inconvenient fact almost certainly won't stop you engaging in apologetic mendacity of the sort you've peddled above.
Bullshit.
Atheism, in its rigorous formulation, consists of suspicion of unsupported supernaturalist assertions. That is IT. in short, it consists of "YOU assert that your magic man exists, YOU support your assertions". And doesn't involve constructing any assertions of its own.
In short, you're peddling yet more tiresome lies about us that have been destroyed repeatedly.
Now, do you have something to bring here, to support the assertion that your cartoon magic man from your goat herder mythology, is something OTHER than the product of the rectal passage of piss-stained Bronze Age incels? "My mythology says so, therefore it's true", and lame apologetic fabrications of the sort you've just dumped here from inside your soiled intellectual nappies, do not count.
