A Christian Today Told Me I Am Going To Hell

I said I don't care as I would have a lot of good company.

Then repeated about repenting or I would go to hell.

Can not some days get enough, I hate Christians trying to cram it down your throat.

Stoned and needed to get that out.

Oh and I repeated myself, as there would be so many there that I would have great company in hell so far that I don't care.

We all know Stephen William Hawking, I could spend hours listening to him depending on the subject for hours.
Then there's Carrie Fisher who I would be willing to talk to about Star Wars awhile.

Just naming a few not going to try to list all the celebrities I know to be atheist.

Seth Green.
Seth MacFarlane.
The guy who played the Emperor for the Star Wars Movies, all of them.

I would almost rather go to hell at this point. Not that it exists either.

It's fun ti mock them. (Seth MacFarlane) Family Guy.

Anyways, have nothing against them just they shouldn't push it.

Edit' Heaven 100% Not Real.

"A Christian Today Told Me I Am Going To Hell"

How on earth would he/she know? Fucking cheek..

Next time, perhaps remind them gently that the bible says:

Matthew 7:1 "Judge not, that ye be not judged." (KJV)

Thought for today.from The Devil's Dictionary:

" Christian: one who believes the New T is a divinely inspired book admirably suited to the spiritual needs of his neighbour. One who follows the teachings of Christ in so far as they are not inconsistent with a life of sin" (Ambrose Bierce)

Perhaps more pithily expressed by Mohandas Gandhi, a devout Hindu

"“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

― Mahatma Gandhi"

yes lol.

There is a passage about judging others. I don't hold nothing against Christians just don't push it like some drug. I want to enjoy this time even if it means nothing at all. On the other hand I did meet a nice Christian today and she did not force it on me. So some ain't so bad. Just saying the ones I need to answer to try to tare apart their god if I have to.

Rambling cause I am high.

Edit; Name in.

The gospels tell of an incident where Jesus comes across a crowd about to stone a woman to death for adultery***. He rails agains them for being hypocrites and frees the woman .This one of many passages which tells me it is unlikely the gospels were written by Jews.:

According to The Law {of Moses}**** the penalty for adultery was death. Stoning was a common method of execution. , In reality, had Jesus interfered, he would almost certainly have joined the woman in being stoned, .for blasphemy.

Jesus' behaviour in that incident is the earliest written example I've seen of the Tu quo que logical fallacy. (aka appeal to hypocrisy)

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((9))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

***John 7:53-8:11

"8 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

This an early passage and considered authentic by christians . I consider it a forgery because of its ignorance of The Law of Moses.

It also flaunts Jesus' claim that he was not going to change the law. Mat 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

Interestingly, no mention is made of the man involved, who would also have been stoned.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((9)))))))))))))

****Leviticus 20:10. "And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death" (KJV).

Christians seem largely oblivious to the fact that there are 613 commandments, not just 10. They are all in the Pentateuch ( First 5 books of the old testament)

Christians pretty much ignore them although fundamentalists are awfully fond of quoting Leviticus in condemning homosexuality.

Leviticus18:22. Lev. 18:22
‘You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." (NASB)
"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." (ESV, NKJV)

Lev. 20:13
"If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them." (NASB)
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." (ESV)

I would actually welcome

I would actually welcome having a Christian tell me that I am going to hell. I already have a few responses lined up from which to choose should I ever get the chance to use them...

1. "Are you and others like you going to be there too?" (Likely response will be, "No, I will be in heaven with my Lord.") Me: "Oh, okay. Phew! For a minute there I was worried hell was going to be a horrible place."

2. "Really? Well, you should know, I suppose. So, uh, if you don't mind, please save me a seat if you get there before I do."

3. "Hmph! Fat chance of that ever happening, unless Satan finally decides to cancel that protection order he filed not allowing me within five miles of the place. For some odd reason he has it in his head I will try to take over his damned domain if given the chance."

4. "Sooooo..... I assume you heard this straight from god himself, and you are here telling me on god's behalf?"... *impressed look*... "Cool, I suppose. But, uh, why couldn't god simply tell me himself? Guess he was too busy trying to decide which team to allow to win the Super Bowl this year, huh?"

5. (This one is for when I might be in a particularly overly-dramatic mood.) - ..... *look of complete and utter terror*..... "OH DEAR GOD, NOOOOOOO!"..... *dropping to knees and clinging desperately to messenger's clothing*.... *ranting like an A.D.D. lunatic jacked up on crystal meth*.... "NOOOOOoooo...! NOT HELL!!! PLEASE DON'T LET ME GO TO HELL! YOU MUST SAVE ME! PRAY FOR ME! PERFORM AN EXORCISM! LET ME CONFESS TO YOU! JUST DO SOMETHING!"... *grasping shocked messenger in panicked bear hug around waist*.... *sobbing uncontrollably*.... "If you don't do something to save me now, it will be all YOUR FAULT if I die and go to hell.".... *sobbing continues*... *suddenly looking up into face of messenger*... *small glimmer of hope in eyes*... "I just heard god speak to me, and he told me he chose YOU to save me. PLEASE don't fail me. You are my only hope.".... *dropping to ground and curling up in fetal position while loudly wailing in anguish*.....

Much to my disappointment, though, I will likely never get the chance to use any of those. Oh, sure, there is no shortage of people around here who often command me to, "Go to hell!" But that just isn't quite the same as having somebody predicting I will go if I do not act like they do. Oh, well... One can only hope. And at least I am prepared should the opportunity present itself.

5. (This one is for when I might be in a particularly overly-dramatic mood.) - ..... *look of complete and utter terror*..... "OH DEAR GOD, NOOOOOOO!"

Puts me in mind of a true story, I swear;

At work, in the 1990's.

An officious section head was telling off a mate, IN PUBLIC (an absolute no no) So, my mate dropped down on both knees, and grabbed the section head around one knee and began to sob. Quoth he; "Oh, I'm SO SORRY! Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?"

The section head turned an interesting shade of peuce as he tried ,with limited success, to calm the obviously distraught miscreant. (who winked at me) .

As luck would have it, only a few months later said incompetent section head was charged with malfeasance to the tune of $20K.*** He was of course sacked. He also served 18 months in prison .

*** in those days it was criminally easy to rip off the system if you knew what you were doing. That same mate and I actually had a bit of a think about that. We decided it was a lot of risk for relatively little return. We agreed we wouldn't be tempted for less than $1 million each. Besides, neither one of us wanted to live in Argentina .

During my time in the civil service, there was only one professional thief who was a welfare recipient.(that we found out about) She had about a dozen claims in each state, and was very well organised. She was only caught because of a stupid mistake.

The biggest crooks were staff. My favourite was a married couple. They resurrected dead babies and claimed welfare for them.Took years and $30k that could be proved. They used to kill off baby again, and burn the file.

In real life such people get up to 30 seconds before I politely close the door, wishing them a nice day .

Why would I want to say unkind things to them? The result would only be for them to feel martyred. Fuck that.

I remember the saying 'love your enemies; it will drive them nuts" (anon) ,

Thoughts for the day

"Hell for the company. Heaven for the climate'"(Mark Twain)

From the devil's dictionary:

Heaven:

"Something that goes by favour. If It went by merit you would stay out and your dog would go in". (Mark Twain)

Hell:

"A perpetual holiday" (George Bernard Shaw)

"'Other People" (Jean-Paul Sartre, with whom I am simpatico. )

HumeMystic's picture
Hell and heaven are carrot

Hell and heaven are carrot and stick mechanism for believers to coerce others while reaffirming their own delusions. A simple utilitarian psychological device that has no use whatsoever for atheists.

I have a number of stock

I have a number of stock responses to these morons, though in the uk this kind of aggressive apologetics is pretty much unheard of.

1. See you there.
2. It can't be any worse than sunday school when I was a child.
3. As long as it's not full of tedious theists talking superstitious bollocks I'm not bothered.
4. I've spent some time in Hell already, compulsory morning religious assembly, and religious education lessons. Maybe I'll get time off in lieu?

Just a few to start them off...

Homergreg's picture
From what I've come to

From what I've come to understand from the teachings of Jesus, condemning others isn't really a good idea. Sorry this happened to you.

@Homer

@Homer

Sorry, but is this the same Jesus who first introduced the notion of Hell and eternal damnation?

The one who violently attacked the money lenders outside the temple?

The same Jesus who endorses slavery, by claiming slaves should obey their masters, even the cruel ones?

Homergreg's picture
Jesus did speak of hell,

Jesus did speak of hell, depending on translation it can mean grave. I guess I'll find out about that part if I get to either place, or I won't.

I know of the story of him turning over the tables of money lenders inside the temple and cast them out. Never heard the one where it was a violent attack outside the temple.

As far as Jesus endorsing slavery, you are looking at the wrong author.

P.S. you forgot about the fig tree. He was real nasty to that tree.

@Homer...” what I've come to

John 8:42-44 Jesus speaking “ 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me.43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

Sounds pretty condemning to me.

Homer - your “experience” and “bias” in providing a meaning to your “source” of human qualities has led you into picking scriptures which back your form of belief. It’s called confirmation bias. The same book backs those Christians you are “apologizing” for.

Homergreg's picture
I'll try to be a better

I'll try to be a better student of Jesus' teachings. I'm pretty sure that was in response to some people who wanted him dead but claimed to be children of Abraham, so he said they were not children of Abraham but of the devil.

I'll get there some day in my studies, but so far, I've liked what he has said.

Whitefire13's picture
@Homer ...are you prepared to

@Homer ...are you prepared to debate said topic of sin, hell, heaven, etc or is this not apart of you “faith”?

From what I have gathered from the other post your faith is:

“Don’t believe in god”...be a shitty person. People respond likewise and I feel bad. Get tired of “feeling”, have “faith, take a leap” AND now practice love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness and self-control”
“Believe now in god”...be a better person. People treat me likewise and I feel good. God exists.

Homergreg's picture
What?!! My faith is I get

What?!! My faith is I get more of some qualities when I hold faith. I'm by no means a shitty person when I don't hold faith. Maybe you all have these qualities in abundance without faith.

I apologize if I'm coming across as saying anyone is less than me if that don't carry the faith I do. It's just why I believe.

Cognostic's picture
@Homer: My faith is I get

@Homer: My faith is I get more of some qualities when I hold faith. I'm by no means a shitty person when I don't hold faith. Maybe. *Beep beep beep beep! Smoke billowing from the lie detector.*

You can not simultaneously believe the teachings of Christianity or the God of Christianity, Islam or even Judaism for that matter and assert yoiu are not a Shitty Person. That is cognitive dissonance.

GENESIS:
An uncircumcised boy is to be abandoned by his parents and community. 17:14

"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Thousands of innocent women have suffered excruciating deaths because of this verse. 22:18

"He who sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed." If this commandment is obeyed, then the four billion people who do not believe in the biblical god must be killed. 22:20

God orders the sons of Levi (Moses, Aaron, and the other members of their tribe that were "on the Lord's side") to kill "every man his neighbor." "And there fell of the people that day about 3000 men." 32:27-28

Jesus says that most people will go to hell. 7:13-14 Even most Christians.

"The children of the kingdom [the Jews] shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 8:12

Jesus says that he has come to destroy families by making family members hate each other. He has "come not to send peace, but a sword." 10:34-36

Jesus condemns entire cities to dreadful deaths and to the eternal torment of hell because they didn't care for his preaching. 11:20-24

Jesus will send his angels to gather up "all that offend" and they "shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." 13:41-42, 50

The ever-so-kind Jesus calls the Pharisees "hypocrites, wicked, and adulterous." Why? For asking for some evidence that Jesus is who he claims to be. 16:3-4

Jesus condemns the Jews for being "the children of them which killed the prophets." 23:31

Jesus tells us what he has planned for those that he dislikes. They will be cast into an "everlasting fire." 25:41

MARK
Any city that doesn't "receive" the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. 6:11

Jesus says that those that believe and are baptized will be saved, while those who don't will be damned. 16:16

LUKE
esus says that entire cities will be violently destroyed and the inhabitants "thrust down to hell" for not "receiving" his disciples. 10:10-15

Jesus says, "He that is not with me is against me." 11:23

Those who "blaspheme against the Holy Ghost" will never be forgiven. 12:10
Absolutist bullshit.

God is like a slave-owner who beats his slaves "with many stripes." 12:46-47

JOHN
People are damned or saved depending only on what they believe. 3:18, 36

The "wrath of God" is on all unbelievers. 3:36

Jesus calls his opponents (the Jews) the sons of the devil. 8:44

Jesus is the only way to heaven. All other religions lead to hell. 14:6 (Only if you are Christian)

The entire book is fraught with bigotry against the Jews. Too many quotes to cite.

THAT'S JUST THE COSPELS ----- HOW IN THE FUCK CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS BULLSHIT AND CALL YOURSELF A GOOD PERSON. HOW IN THE FUCK CAN YOU BELIEVE IS A BUTCHERING MURDERING GOD AND PRETEND YOU ARE NOT A SHITTY PERSON. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WHEN GOD HAD HIS SOLDIERS CUTTING OPEN THE STOMACHS OF PREGNANT WOMEN AND TOSSING THEIR UNBORN BABIES ONTO ROCKS WHILE LAUGHING ABOUT IT.

You are delusional!

2 Thessalonians 2:11

2 Thessalonians 2:11
“For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,”

So let’s break down what Jesus is saying/claiming (after all, the billions of Christians all claim to follow him, and you’ve apologized on behalf of one with a claim they shouldn’t say that)

Yes Jesus is talking with Jews (a system of belief that god arranged either by itself as one, or before it became Jesus - whatever)

John 8:42-44 Jesus speaking “ 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God.(CLAIM)

I have not come on my own; God sent me.(CLAIM)

43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. (UH, maybe because we’re following a religion you and or your father set up?!?).

44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. REALLY? God’s Chosen People?!?! The same ones who wiped out everyone who their “father” said wasn’t worshipping him?!?!

...He was a murderer from the beginning, (NO who did “he” murder? Well, unless we’re talking about god)

...not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. (Didn’t Adam and Eve just die, the way they were created to? I mean, all god did was not allow them to eat from some tree offering “life”) SO if this is referencing Satan, how did he lie?

When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” SEE above. God created everything right?

Homergreg's picture
I'm not a learned Christian

I'm not a learned Christian apologist and if me saying that someone telling someone else they are going to hell isn't what I believe Jesus teaches me is the wrong answer, I'll work it.

I still don't see Jesus telling people that they were children of the devil vs children of Abraham when he was referencing the plots on his life that were happening as meaning Christians should stand in judgement of others like this person did to the op.

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[b]”

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.

Whitefire13's picture
31 To the Jews who had

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. (Confirmation Bias)

32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (No “evidence” of what is true)

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. ()FALSE what was the whole 10 plagues on Egypt about?!?!

How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. (What the fuck is SIN? And isn’t it something Everyone is BORN with)

35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. (NO teaching that this practice sucks ass)

36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (What?!?! Now I’m confused, how is one “free” from something one was born with???)

37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. (BIG SHOCKER since Jesus knew he was blaspheming the very law him/his father put in place, and killed others for)

38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[b]” (CLAIM)

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered. (Well, not close physically, as literal, but yah, descendants)

You don’t need to be an apologist. Or apologize (Christians condemning others to hell CAN find their scriptures) ... the bible is a fuckin’ mess of thoughts and laws and confusion and judgement and justification.

YOU may only “like” the feel good shit (who doesn’t) BUT this feel good shit is (according to the same book) ...

ALL scripture is inspired of God, beneficial for teaching, reproving... etc etc (2 Tim 3:16,17)

Feel good about prayer. Fine. Feel good about being a better person. Fine. I don’t care... but “claim” this is “from god” you better be prepared to prove it beyond what you feel. Say “I like some of what this now mythical person, Jesus said sometimes” - great! I like what lots of people say and can roll with that ... claim it’s “god” again, better back the claim
