"Christians have religious freedom all day, every day. What is being taken away from them, is the right to have their religion put on a pedestal above all others. Allowing one religion to have primacy is antithetical to religious freedom. I'm pretty sure that there are no "advocates for heterosexual marriage". Like, why would something that is legal in every single society on earth need someone to advocate for it? Is there any serious possibility that heterosexual marriage is going to be outlawed, so it would need defenders? Or is the author merely lamenting that people who opposed equal rights were treated disrespectfully? "deny Christians freedom from PC tyranny"... ok, let's drop the politically correct language here... what they really mean is "deny Christians the right to deny equal rights to anyone that they disapprove of". "We used to have a name for a corporate politics that subverts democracy by throwing cash at politicians: fascism". What? subverting democracy by throwing cash at politicians? That's not fascism! That's capitalism! Fascism would be wanting industry and commerce to be brought under the control of a strong totalitarian dictator and unflinchingly loyal martial government. Please tell me that the person who wrote this is American? I really hope that the complete failure to know anything about what fascism is -is a purely American thing and hasn't started infecting the rest of the world. Also, fine, Christianity has prohibitions on murder, adultery, theft, and perjury (just like virtually every other society in the world, including the ones that had never heard of Christianity). But it might be noted that slavery, rape, and human sacrifice are conspicuously absent from the list, and throughout the Bible Yhwh turns a blind eye to them (and even demands that some of those take place). The subjugation of women and their relegation to the status of property is praised in the Old and New Testaments. And of course, one would have to be a fool to think that the "Render unto Caesar" line is a call for limited government. At best the argument is specious and rests on numerous false assumptions about the role of Christianity in establishing democracy. At worst it's a compilation of conscious lies aimed at stirring up the Christian persecution complex."
