Who (in Christianity and other monotheistic religions) is the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being?

A) Peter Pan B) Donald Trump C) God

Truth! You can't handle it.

...*loud buzzer sound*.... Wrong.... *chuckle*.... Cog asked a trick question. None of those answers are correct. I'm not going to give the answer, though, because it works better if you figure it out for yourself. Take a few more tokes and think about it a bit... lol...

Late to the thread, just reading and “catching up”. I haven’t read further, soooo I wanted to take a stab at Cog’s question. I love puzzles!!!!

OK - here goes... its “D” ...”all of the above”

Did I get it right?!?!?!

Just being dumb. I would rather Peter Pan as a god. LOL.

One mistake I notice is that

One mistake I notice is that people can attempt to solve a mystery by appealing to a larger mystery.

I understand the scientific process and how we have arrived at our present understanding of this universe. But for any questions that are not presently known, I am confortable with knowing we lack the knowledge.

Just a curious stoner.

Knowing wouldn't change my concept of god, or should I say in the disbelief of any god existing.

I wont I don't believe, believe in god if he or she appears to me and then announces that. How would I know it's really god himself or herself?

I know, aliens are our gods... LOL.
Morgan Freeman is probably right about what's after death, and that's nothings there.
Like before I was born.

Laters. ;-)

Because if there was a god and it intended to reveal itself to you, it would know what act would be convincing to you.

Well if so I hope he doesn't mind me asking questions for a millennia.

Plus I would probably start asking questions about other religions. That is even if I would have to look it up. I don't want to know everything being perfect, that would be a total bore. 100 years if I make it is enough.

Nah, my questions would be much simpler.

Brothers and sisters, time is ticking! Did you know Jesus hated religion? He spent his whole ministry rectifying the legalist mess of the Pharisees!

We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, thats why He provided a way out of a JUST punishment for sin through His SON JESUS.

Accept Him today, repent (which means to turn away) from your sinful ways, and you will have life.

I love you guys, I don't want you to go to Hell, nor does GOD!

OUT-FUCKING-STANDING!.... *huge grin*.... I think I'm gonna go rob a bank of a few hundred thousand bucks tomorrow. And if all goes well, then perhaps a few more robberies after that. If (when) I get caught, I will simply tell the authorities I am perfectly okay with YOU taking the punishment for my crime(s). I'm sure you will be fine with that, right?... *rubbing hands together briskly*.... Yep, I could certainly get use to this type of crime and punishment system! I'll be a millionaire within a week!... *sudden look of realization*... Aw, shit... It just dawned on me that Cog will likely go out on a banana theft spree and then tell the cops to come after ME.... *regretful sigh*.... Oh, well... It was a nice thought, at least....

godsworrier, you wrote, “I love you guys, I don't want you to go to Hell, nor does GOD!”

1. You love me? You don’t even know me.
2. Your god doesn’t want me to go to hell? Then it should do away with the place.

GodsWarrior's picture
1. You don't need to know

1. You don't need to know someone to love them. I care enough for your soul to warn you of the punishment to come if you reject!!
2. Hell was not meant for humans, it was meant for Satan and his fallen angels. Humanity also fell therefore, we have to go there if we die in our sin

Well, gw, the god character

Well, gw, the god character you worship is an immoral jerk if it thinks it’s appropriate to torture someone forever.

Another couple of items...please provide your definition of love and let me know how you think I have sinned.

Fuck no, I've never lied nor taken the Lord's name in vain, goddammit! Especially that time when I got caught shoplifting those "Size Doesn't Matter" and "Debbie Does Jesus" videos from the downtown adult book store. It's insulting that you even ASK such a question!... *indignant look*...

Your own words, your dogma, as laid down by your god.

So the default position is that a human being is doomed to an eternity in pure anguish unless it gets on it's knee and praises this god? What kind of pathetic person actually worships such a sick and cruel entity?

Wot?

This thread is about the big bang. Either contribute or go away

In the meantime it would be just peachy if you could tone down the patronising humbug a notch, there's a good chap. That way you might come across a bit less like an annoying little prig.

My comment about the big bang

My comment about the big bang: I believe it is illogical that something can come from the nothing. Laws need a lawmaker, and the universe is full of laws. Even looking at the word universe tells you how it was created: 'uni - one' 'verse - word'. It was spoken into being.

I am nothing without God brother, I'm spreading the good news of Jesus Christ

Oh dear.

Argument for intelligent design/ the watchmaker/ teleological argument for the existence of god. Long discredited. Look it up.

if you' re as keen as you seem, have a listen to the short version of the 1948 debate on the existence of god between Bertrand Russel and Frederick Copleston SJ.

"I am nothing without God brother, I'm spreading the good news of Jesus Christ"

--and there you go again.

You have not yet proved your god exists

As for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Afraid not.

The historicity of Jesus has never been proved. There is no consensus among historians. . What we end up with is: AT BEST there MAY have been a wandering rabbi called something like Yeshua/Yoshua bar Yusuf in first century Judea. There were a lot of 'em about. That he MAY have founded a small Jewish sect, such as say the Ebionites. That he MAY have been crucified by the Romans for sedition. Sadly that was not an uncommon fate for a Jew in Judea at that time. The Romans crucified thousands of Jews during their occupation of Judea. THAT a poor ,tragic little rabbi Yeshua bar Yusuf had little if anything to do with the Jesus of the new testament.***

I'm afraid that's all have to say to you until you have proved the existence of god.

The laws of the universe are far and in between. There's places normal physics don't work.
The universe from nothing? We don't know that, but it didn't need a god to start it.

I go by what I feel is right, not by what a god tells me. I wont waste my time.

Agreed, the consensus is that there was "something" that preceded the big bang. But instead of discussing rational science, you are just inserting a bigger mystery, your god.
