Great hope: So all this stuff

Great hope: So all this stuff about "spirit" is false?

Personally, I believe everything can be explained by the laws of nature - terms things like "the supernatural", and "spirit" mean nothing to me.

@ Redemption: the action of

@ Redemption: the action of saving or being saved from sin. Original Sin is different than the modern Christian version of "Doing Bad Things." Original sin is "Separation From God." It has nothing to do with "what a person does." You are born in a state of "Original Sin" separation from god. This is because you are the children of Adam and Eve who were (removed from the garden of Eden) and thus separated from god.

Redemption is the action of saving or being saved from sin. This action is accepting Christ into your life and begging god for forgiveness.

First issue: For redemption to mean anything at all, you must prove there is a God.

Second: The idea of redemption is not a Christian invention. Thousands of ancient stories have redemption as the core of their mythology. The tale of Hercules is one such story and it predates Christianity.

3. Christian Redemption is the cure for a disease that Christians invented. Christian theology asserts you are a broken human being at birth. By the fact you are born God hates you and you are a filthy sinner. Your only hope for salvation / redemption is to believe in the Christian faith. Christians create the disease and then offer you the only cure. There is no disease and there is no cure; there is nothing to be redempted from. It's all Bullshit.

Mark 1, 3-6

Mark 1, 3-6
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

The author of the above DID NOT INTEND THAT THE READER (the audience ... its the script of a play) SHOULD BELIEVE IT TO BE A DESCRIPTION OF AN ACTUAL EVENT.

Fred Bloggs came preaching ... and all the people of the English countryside and all the people of London came out to him and were all baptised in the River Thames confessing their sins.

Then came Hamish from Scotland ....

First explain and define "spirit."

Great Hope,

You are asking all these whiney-ass questions but you refuse to explain and define the "focus terms" of the questions you want answered. This is a common whiney-ass tactic of most Religious Absolutists. You ask questions refusing to explain and define the "focus terms" so you can redirect a new question without addressing our arguments.

Quit your whiney-ass tactics and man up to what you actually want discussed.

If an action is moral, it is

If an action is moral, it is not moral based on something nebulous like whether or not "god" exists. Similarly, if an action is immoral, your own conscience should tell this. Fearing the wrath of a "god" for an action you have committed would only show that such a being is unjust and inexplicable.

David Killens, Sheldon: If you are an atheist do you mean that you are 100% rock-solid that there is not or cannot be a God of any kind?

@ JimM

@ JimM

Atheism means a lack of belief in God or Gods.

That is all. Stop trying the usual theist trickiness by redefining.

You are trying my patience.

Great hope,

Great hope,

"I need some help with proof
Hello everyone, I have recently become interested in what kind of proof there is about The Bible's message of redemption, being false."

The biblical fairy tale, like all religious doctrines, teaches complete obedience and loyalty to the Boss. As long as you do what you are told to do without question and stay loyal the Boss will reward you with something good after you're dead. If you waver in your commitment the Boss might forgive you if you make the proper sacrifices.

As it says in John 15:4-14 (TLB) = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john15:4-14&version=TLB
