It is funny that on the same day you posted that, this was posted:
Hasn't this horse been beat to death. The bible is propaganda. If you haven't figured this out for yourself then I will save my breath.
I have a problem with the first line of Genesis. Instead of "In the beginning..." it should read "Once upon a time...". I believe that would be a more accurate translation.
If it is to be taken literally then why do they trust a mass murderer. In the Bible it says he flooded the entire planet and killed everyone. I doubt everyone had done such things to deserve a death sentence. What about the innocent children? What did they do to deserve to die? Even in the Bible, god is not a being to be worshipped. But instead he himself is worse than Satan. At least in the beginning Satan got Adam and Eve to eat food that gave them knowledge so they could make educated choices in their life. The Bible paints god as worse than satan.
I don't care about the errors in the babble. It is an old book. I care what people do with information in the book
Given the Bible claims its own infallibility (2 Peter, 2 Timothy, to name but a few), the errors are quite important towards the argument of why we should disregard it.
But alas, I agree, I tend to care more about what people do with the book and its many errors. Oh, that and I enjoy pointing them out and watching the feeble attempts at response.
I give this to theists for the sake of argument.
We need not argue this but it does show how a Gnostic Christian like me reads it.
I keep a bible in the house even though I think this quote quite correct.
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
― Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion
Then again, I am a Gnostic Christian and know how to read the filth in it.
Said of Gnostic Christian versus Christian bible reading practices.
“Both read the Bible day and night; but you read black where I read white.”
William Blake.
I would take this further and advise you to read any scriptures from as many POV as is within you. Question everything including yourself.
The bible, if read as a book of wisdom, does have much wisdom though.
You just have to read it the way Gnostics do and revers a lot of the Christian morals.
Christians call evil good while Gnostic Christians call evil, evil.
I E. Gnostic Christians think that bible God, the demiurge to us, is quite immoral for thinking that torturing King David's baby for 6 days before finally killing it is good justice. Gnostic Christians think that evil while Christians think that a good form of justice.
Which group do you think is right?

Test the Spirits
4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. 4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1 John 4 ESV
