The governor of Florida has just deemed pro-wrestling matches essential services. - televised with no live audience.
Other states are allowing religious gatherings.
I told you guys some people consider sporting events 'religious.'

Religious Gatherings and Pro Wrestling - Catering to the intellectually elite or a government attempt at culling ignorance from the masses. I am not actually sure I disagree with this policy.

Wot, no dwarf tossing? (sorry, that should read ' the energetic throwing of little people' )
Umm, did he mean in a stadium, with paying customers with usual seating arrangements? If he did he's a dangerous ignoramus.
I have no issue in culling the shallow end of the gene pool. I do have a problem with the probability those good folks will infect some harmless atheist before popping their clogs. ---it has been estimated that 50% of infected people are asymptomatic.
One out of two ain't bad.
In Australia, it has long been said that football is the national religion. In my lifetime Australia has always been sports mad. Probably because as a nation, we are so good at any sport we try. (except dwarf throwing)
You may well ask why no padding is worn (except a cup). I think the players think padding is wussy. They do not respect gridiron players . (Sorry. I've never been able to bring myself to call it 'football')
Doesn't that mean a lot of injuries, I hear you ask.. Well, I can't remember the last time there was a death. However, concussion is endemic, and often leads to brain damage in the long term. Broken collar bones and legs are also common.
ME? I played football in high school, which is nothing like US high school football. I had one good season, at age 17, when I had a growth spurt. I played 'ruck rover" a kind of freelance position which follows the ball. Injuries; often went home with sprig marks running up my back and got a corked thigh once. I did see a bloke go down with a broken femur once. Apart from that, just a lot of bruises, very little blood..
Below link to a short clip of some the best bits of some Aussie rules football games. (10 minutes) The 'marks' (catching the ball ) need to be seen to be believed and explain the sprig marks on my back.
I sometimes have the opportunity to watch footy (I hope I have that term correct) and really enjoy watching such great games and fantastic athletes doing their thing. We get similar big hits in ice hockey, although the players wear helmets and padding. Additionally, you can't use the stick in striking another player, and leaving your feet is a sure penalty. But we compensate by allowing bare knuckle brawling.
And I am sure you agree that the dramatic rolling around by some football/soccer players is criminal. They feel a mosquito graze past a cheek, and fall to the ground and roll about as if they were mortally wounded.
We both know that if you were hit hard enough to drop you, you just fall, and don't roll and thrash about.
"We both know that if you were hit hard enough to drop you, you just fall, and don't roll and thrash about"
Yes, 'footy' is the right term. Just one word of a great many Aussies manage to mangle.
On my mum's side, there are two Hall of Fame inductees ; my grandfather Frank Patrick and Cousin Murray "Muzz" Patrick. I never met my grandfather, but met Muzz in 1985. A gentle giant of a man .I still have the NY Rangers hockey puck he gave me.
However, I don't like blood sports so am not fond of ice hockey-.
--We have only a few ice rinks in Oz, so Hockey is played without ice mostly. It's not a popular sport here
The only good thing in Aussie "football" (holding back laugher) is the little dudes in the white coats who violently yank there arms forward when the ball gets kicked over their heads. My guess is they are wearing the white coats because they have to be institutionalized from viewing whatever that "sport" is.
I used to see it on ESPN way back in the day before they had the money to broadcast real American sports. No doubt the players were mostly relatives of the first wave of prisoner Aussies. Dental hygiene is of course frowned upon.

Mate, don't go off on ME. It's not my fault you didn't have the great good fortune to be born in Australia. OR if you were, that you live under a rock and don't know any better than to like gridiron.
You have obviously misunderstood the nature of gridiron.
Have listen to Andy Griffiths splain it you.
Now for the irony . I loathe most spectator sports, and definitely team sports. Enjoyed playing them, but get bored just watching--- like swimming, tennis, golf and martial arts, as well as some Olympic sports.
I have seen exactly TWO league (professional) football games in my life. The first was in 1964. I was a 'tray boy' selling refreshments. I made 1 pound 10 shillings ($3.00 today) so the day wasn't a total a loss.
The other time was in 1979. My then girlfriend, now my ex wife , wanted to see a game of football. So I took her. On the mound, in the rain, and her hotdog was cold. Came half time and she admitted her curiosity was satiated, and could we go home. Football was never mentioned again between us, which suited me just fine .
@Crank re:"It's not my fault you didn't have the great good fortune to be born in Australia."
What a blessing to not have been born on that penal colony. The Land of marsupials, who like their Aussie human mates, couldn't survive if they had to compete with the top of the heap.
Australia does have one thing going for it, it is the gateway to New Zealand.
I love how stupid people try and reason with death. Transmissibility at 85%, R0 between 4-5, Contagious for upto 3 hours on microdroplets let alone surfaces, making social distancing pointless in enclosed areas, and eyes, nose and mouth transmission and death among the population increasing. Yet lets gather and pray to god for help. It has nothing to do with comparing what service is or isn't deemed essential. Its about contact with others, period.
Currently, the WWE and ECW still hold televised matches, in an empty setting. But common sense is thrown out the window, 20+ people gather and mingle, and I assume, go home once the show is over.
If only EVERYONE stayed at home for three weeks, the spread would be halted, and the numbers would plummet.
"I love how stupid people try and reason with death"
'Reason' and 'death' are not words I would usually use in the same sentence. Puts me in mind of a great film:.
The Seventh Seal "(1957)",. In which Max Von Sydow , playing a knight, plays chess with death.
"If only EVERYONE stayed at home for three weeks, "
Assuming of course you didn't need say a doctor ,a pharmacy, an ambulance, hospital, or a plumber or electrician and had no need to buy food of any kind, ------
Today I have had 2 parcels delivered from purchases on Ebay. I've done that intentionally, to help out some businesses and to provide work for the delivery people. I order on line locally whenever I can .
It's very quiet around here, and a lot of cars in my cul de sac, which indicates people are at home.
Addendum. I heard a rumour that the current hard case Filipino president has ordered that people who break isolation are to be shot on sight. I have no ides how that's supposed to work, but it would be enough for me to lock myself inside my house.
Here we go. Just found this by accident. Just HAD TO share this with everybody. Peoples be dumb...
That bloke is downright creepy .He looks exactly like the men I was warned about when I was a child ---Really loud protestants who will drag others to hell with him. He's a poe.
I wonder how much of his own shit he actually believes
