Hey Tin Man

Thanks for the reply and the invitation to chat.

One of my best friends won a first prize at huge Halloween Costume Party , he was a tin wacker by trade and make a Tin Man costume, it was awesome. My friend Kirk died , drank himself to death, so sad he was a good man.

I hear you Brother

I was raise Roman Catholic , went to separate school that was governed by Nuns and Priests , I hated it, I was strapped almost every day except for the day I hooked off, forced to go to a church where they preached in pig Latin and sang horrible hymns for a song book, there was never a bible to be found, because only the pompous priest could read and understand it...and that was a bunch of crap.

At age 10 all I knew is that I was damned for life , if I ate eat fish on Friday or if I didn't go to Church on Sunday, my life was a mess , I was so mixed up and frustrated wit life....what hogwash...this is religion...man made laws not GODS
My brother was in a bike gang, charged with robbery at the time and on Sunday at church the priest said to my father that our family didn't belong in the parish and that there was no hope for my brother. I doubt that he knew the love of CHRIST because JESUS would never do this. So I completely understand how people are totally turned off of GOD, when you have hypocrites distorting what HE is really about.

When I found JESUS that's when I understood what HE was all about it and found true love. I don't hate the world anymore and I have more respect for my fellow man.

Anyone who say's you can't have a personal relationship with JC , well that's it's just because it's not their choice.

I'm always amazed how the world and most everyone talks about religion, when JESUS hated it!!! The fact is it was the Pharisees and their religious beliefs that put him to death.
JESUS takes about love and over 600 hundred times it's mentioned in the bible and the word religion only mentioned 5 and never in a positive context. So how people relate GOD, JESUS and the HOLY SPIRIT to religion, I just don't get it because didn't GOD created it ...man did.

Sorry to bend your ear ,I'm ramblin man

Ummm.... Not-for-nuthin', ol' boy, but based on what you described in that post ALONE is cause/reason enough for me to stay as far away from religion as I possibly can. That's just plain torture and abuse, both physically and psychologically. And it was all done in the name of a "loving and caring and perfect" GOD under the guidance of the BIBLE. And even though what you experienced is as bad as it was, the really scary part is that there are even FAR WORSE things that have been done and that still are done under the exact same guidance of the exact same God and the exact same Bible. Soooooo... please explain to me again (in normal talk, NOT scripture spewing), why is following such a religion such a wonderful and happy-happy thing to do? Because, honestly, it ain't sounding all that whooptie-do so far.

Awwww... But the crackers and grape juice at the altar were the parts I always looked forward to at my uncle's church. Never gave enough juice, though, if you ask me. Those crackers were really dry.

Ah. So perhaps there IS a touch of rational in there somewhere, Mick. Excellent. Well, for starters, as far as I can tell, God has never done anything bad to me in my life. Certainly I have lost friends and loved ones, and I have definitely experienced my share of hard times, but - quite honestly - I never ever thought to blame God for them. Life is life, and these things happen. Simple as that. Never blamed the Devil, either, as that whole notion seemed equally foolish. (Not judging, but I'm guessing your first language isn't English, right? Just don't want to make any assumptions concerning the apparent translation problems.) Truly sorry to hear that about your friend Kirk. Never a good thing when something like that happens. Was it recent?

When I was younger (and quite

When I was younger (and quite frankly, unable to use critical thinking skills), I was a very proud Christian. Until about 15, I was very much a Baptist. Ironically enough, the turning point was the concept of a personal relationship with Jesus. When everyone I knew was claiming to have one, I did not have one. From this, I saw three possibilities: God is fake and is built on false claims; I wasn't doing Christianity right; or everyone else was lying/delusional. Since my practice of faith was done according to an ordained minister's teachings, option 2 seemed ridiculous. Assuming option 3 is correct, I don't want to be part of that crowd. Since options 1 and 3 aren't mutually exclusive, nothing seemed to matter. I knew then that religion wasn't my lot in life. After that, science pretty much took over.

So as petty and disingenuous it seems to claim intimacy with Jesus, I can't say it never helped me in any way that people say it.

See, Mick? I told you to be rational. These other guys are much better at this than I am, and they do not put up with too much crap. Just sayin'.

Re: Olivia post

Er...uh... (???).... *scratching head*.... Ummm... *looking around confusedly*.... But?.... Somebody please help! I have NO IDEA how to respond to that!

Edit:
Holy shit, guys. I think I'm hallucinating. I swear I just saw a post on here from some "Olivia" asking if anybody wanted to get their ex back or some such nonsense. Gave a link to some woo-woo "spiritual doctor" who could help. So I posted my reply (above), and when I got back to the page the Olivia post had friggin' vanished. WTF? I must have a bolt loose somewhere in my cranial compartment. *groan*
