Physical mutilation is unconscionable and there is no justification for allowing parents to alter their children’s genitals.

People should be able to parent their kids how they see fit, right? And really, what damage could a little religious indoctrination do?

“Why can’t atheists just leave religious people alone? What difference does it make to them anyway?” This is a common complaint levelled against the non-religious. Sometimes I have these thoughts too. What harm is it really? And then I remember my childhood and think about the encounters my kids have had with religious kids. I remember the fear and anxiety, the pressure to proselytize and the way my Christian friends treated others.

Too many American schoolchildren are subjected to religious teachings in public schools. Many already know this is a violation of the Constitution, but what can a student do about it? There’s a reason for secular public education in America and kids need to know what resources they have available if they or someone they know is being preached to in the classroom.
