I will always be pro-choice

I will always be pro-choice because giving the government control over our bodies is a MAJOR slippery slope (think Nazi Germany).

If a fetus is given legal rights to life, the woman loses hers. It's as simple as that.

We know this because in states where there are fetal personhood laws, these laws don't just impact women who want to terminate their pregnancies, but they also impact women who want to carry to term.

Watch this short video for an explanation:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3X4_p3yAC8

If a fetus is given full legal rights, where is the line drawn? Will pregnant women not be allowed to work in labor intensive jobs? Not allowed to have a glass of wine? Drink coffee? Run marathons? Exercise? Eat McDonalds? Smoke cigarettes?

No, thank you. The government needs to stay out of it. These choices need to be between a woman, her family and her doctor. PERIOD.

And here is my issue with

And here is my issue with blindly pro-life people who say they truly believe that the life of an embryo is EQUAL to the life of a child.

If there was a hospital on fire, completely engulfed in flames, and on one side of a huge room is a container with 100 fertilized, human embryos and on the other side of the room is a baby crying.

You only have time to grab the container OR the baby. You don't have time to grab both.

What do you do?

Every pro-life person I've asked refuses to answer the question, because they know that saving the crying baby is MORE MORAL and HUMANE than saving the 100 fertilized embryos.

Yet when I ask them, in the same situation, instead of fertilized embryos, it's a 99 year old elderly man, they pro-life people save the baby every single time. Does that mean the baby's life is MORE VALUABLE than the old man? Of course not. It's just logical to save the baby because the baby has it's entire life ahead of them, whereas the old man has lived a long life.

So pro-life people can think critically, they just choose not to to suit their political agenda.

Damn fine post. My answer in both situations is to save the baby. Same reason for both: "It's just logical to save the baby because the baby has it's entire life ahead..." And the same reason would apply if I had the choice of saving only the baby, or saving only myself.
