Is belief toxic for your brain?

Belief in nonsense/religion is toxic.
In addition though, it appears that the very concept of belief is inescapably toxic:

    (1) Belief can include non science, while science cannot.

    (2) “..that flat earthers exist, (i.e. beliefs in supposedly flat earth) does not disregard gravitational theory, and that scientists believe, does not suddenly change the behaviours of equations in scientific descriptions.”

The second quote comes directly from my shameless plug below (free for unlimited users):

Final-note:

Belief's backwardness, as shown in science source:

once you start believing in

once you start believing in something you reinforce that belief, as with religious belief you have a host of biblical text and prays that you recite over and over. I believe it could become detrimental to oneself when it makes you not seek out medical care. when it comes to a point say you wont get medical consultation for something that ails you.Thats one reason I escaped the word of faith movement in my local town.it was teaching that you can rely on gods healing powers for healing and not seek help. also what can become toxic is the health and wealth teachings you see, Where youll receive a higher return on the money you give, And that will be an increase, it reminds me of the casino promises in my home town.We all kn ow that this doesn`t happen to the majority of people most lose all there money. So it`s these kinds of beliefs that yes can become toxic.

Well said science follower;

Well said science follower; like you I had been grown in religion, particularly Christianity.

I had discarded my Christian attachment 4 years ago, but I didn't stop the process there, because I had come to observe the sub-optimal manner of the very concept of belief.

Believing in things (separate from religion) may manifest as yet another barrier on thinking, which I didn't fancy keeping in my atheist tool-set.

Of course, like religious belief, it appears to be somewhat difficult (although easier for atheists) to purge belief bound mentality, given the years of experience of belief constructs, faced by billions of persons...

and toxic beliefs may lead to

and toxic beliefs may lead to an addiction, which can be detrimental to ones health.like the addict who beliefs that the heroin they consume is just medicine for there well being. I know of some people who think that drugs is the way to find inner contentment in one`s life but only become addicted and eventually waste away and die.
