Interesting to note that he didn't say "false gods". Probably because the Israelites were polytheistic at the time of Exodus . According to Israel and Finkelstein, in "The Bible Unearthed" , there is archaeological evidence to show that polytheism was still bing practiced in Israel as late as 300 bce.
Contrary to the belief of most christians, Mosaic Law consists of 613 commandments not just ten. These are collectively known as 'the Mitzvot' (commandments)
