Billy or FIG says he has been a devout catholic for some time now. What a fucking lie. He hasn't consistently been the same person on this forum for more than 3 months at a time except being an ignorant asshole. He has always been that!
Amen and halleluja to that Mykcob!

@Nyer Re: FIG
CONTEXT!!! You took all that out of context! (Sorry. Just had to beat FIG to the punch. *snicker-snicker*)
@ TM Context!
No Tm, its just that you don't know how to read the passage quoted. If we consult a discredited 12th century theologian he will certainly furnish the answer that I agree with. See?
Humpty Dumpty had it right : " Words mean precisely what I want them to mean, neither more nor less" (slight paraphrase from memory)
@Old Man Re: "If we consult a discredited 12th century theologian he will certainly furnish the answer that I agree with."
*whining* But I don't know any 12th Century theologians! So I'm just gonna make up my OWN interpretations. So THERE! *pouting*
@ TM Re POUTY
I will introduce you...after all there's a profit in it...see what I did there?
@Old Man
Profit?.... YES! Now we're talkin'!
My goodness, these Christians really have no limit to how disgustingly selfish they may appear.
Some supposed God is good to them for doing trivial things like getting them that gift on their birthday, while millions die of hunger all the time.
I watch quite a few atheist videos, many from Austin. Every person involved is there and advocating for the community, they do what they do in the hope they can improve their nation, their community, even civilization. Not for themselves, but others.
I turn on the TV and switch to one of the religious channels. Almost every time the message is clear, send us money and we will pray for you, or send you a DVD, or magic water so YOU can attain your prayers. The overall theme is pretty simple, they are selling hokum to individuals who desire to obtain something for themselves.
For almost every religious individual, they are concerned about themselves, pure selfishness. They fear what will happen to them, they desire some magic money, they want this, they want that, all aimed directly for their selfish purposes.
IMO most atheists are much less selfish than the overall religious community, by a huge factor.
"IMO most atheists are much less selfish than the overall religious community, by a huge factor."
I agree, but something is making me uneasy, and for some reason I'd like to see "likely to be " in that sentence between less and selfish.
I get so used to the dishonesty of religious claims and beliefs that sometimes I fear I am becoming intransigent myself, as it's all too easy to become frustrated when offering expansive refutations to all their drip drip drip of endless unevidenced claims, only to see wheezy...sorry, I mean theists, dishonestly ignore them completely and carry on with the drip drip drip of their unevidenced assertions. So without noticing we may start to "fight fire with fire", and boy do theists love it when they can leap on a claim from an atheist that is too strident. I know, ironic isn't it.
Of course nothing you posted is incorrect, it's just the endless double standard religions set between expectations of evidence for their claims, compared to those who don't share their beliefs.
