I didn't bother to read this and will NOT bother to read this based on your propensity to hijack other people's threads for your own purposes.

Go make your own thread.

And I encourage others to not respond to this fool in this thread anymore either since it is, after all, supposed to be catholicray's thread about theistic belief.

Hahaha refusing to read the evidence? How convenient. Why am I not surprised.

And another accusation that I am the one who hijacked this thread. What do you do when someone engages you to debate your point? Stay silent? I was asked questions and I responded. All you had to do was not ask me anything if you thought it was off topic. Tua culpa not mia.

I don't see how you missed the rationality of my position. Let's say that I'm living in an infinite reality where God definitely doesn't exist.
Now, remember I have said clearly that my position is just as rational as yours. Now that I exist in this infinite Godless reality anything goes. Your rationality is no more than a human construct. It's just as meaningless as my rationality to still believe in God. It's just as ridiculous to argue your point of view as it is to argue my own.

You might cry foul and call me ignorant because I still believe in God even though I exist in a Godless infinite reality. Yet the very meaning of those words are merely human constructs. They don't actually mean anything. Why should I be bothered with being right or wrong?

If you want to say that my arguments are ignorant and that I myself am irrational then you have to establish rationality. Don't cite any scientific journal because they are chalked full of words. The meaning of those words is subjective to you, not me. I don't have to agree with your meaning of words. I'm embracing the meaningless of it all which brings me pleasure and completes my subjective existence. Even this post is meaningless but I enjoy it so I post it. It doesn't actually have a point but we can pretend it does.

And so it begins.

@ Tin Man

During my tour, you failed to point out where the vinaigrette is. I'm gonna need some for this word salad.

Also please, pre-emptively, show me where the cheese is. The time is nigh.

Craybelieves's picture
Ewwww vinaigrette please

Ewwww vinaigrette please direct me to the ranch instead I'm a fat man. Better show me where the bacon is too and when are we off to see the wizard Tin Man?

@Catholicray

@Catholicray

Actually, I do believe I saw some ranch dressing in the fridge. It was on the bottom shelf behind what Arakish calls his "fertilizer". (Again, don't ask... *shudder*...) Might want to check the expiration dates, though. Some of those bottles are starting to look more like bleu cheese rather than ranch.... *gag*...

Would love to introduce you to The Wizard, but he hasn't been back since he took off in that balloon after that "premature launch". (Come to find out, that seemed to be a regular problem with him.) Anyway, nobody has seen him since. Although, there have been rumors in The Oz National Inquisitor that he was sighted on a beach down in Cancun with Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa. Meanwhile, we ended up hiring a crew of the flying monkeys to operate all the "Wizard" apparatus. (After ol' Greenie melted, they were all in desperate need of employment, obviously.) Oddly enough, they actually do a better job than the old man did. Go figure... *shrugging shoulders*...

@Terraphon

@Terraphon

Uhhh... Yeah... About that vinaigrette... *rubbing back of neck*... It, uh, seems we are experiencing a shortage lately with all the recent servings of word salad. But, ummm, normally it would be in the fridge behind Cog's "science experiments" (Don't ask... *shudder*...). As for the cheese, we finally had to invoke a policy of B.Y.O.C., because somebody... *discretely motioning toward Old Man*... seems to believe any cheese left in the fridge is fair game to go with his wine.

@catholicray,

@catholicray,

Seems like Terraphon is calling in the tribe to slay you. Unless these words stop them, and I doubt that, they will prefer to throw nastiness at you and the likes instead of continuing the debate to the end. The tribe decides the end of the debate. Almost 2 weeks here myself and getting to know what it's like here. I will not partake in that childish behavior. Others also will not act as such. Stay tuned. Hang in there. You'll get through it.

Just so you know I respect your beliefs, even if we are not on the same page. Fear not what others believe, only in what they might do.That is the true character, the true person. everything else is as you had stated...meaningless.

TO EVERYONE: We may have differences in beliefs but that is no cause to disrespect someone or their beliefs.
Wouldn't life be boring if everyone was exactly you?

I might get a few slings myself just for standing up for you but that's ok. Go ahead tribe, reveal who you are !

If you do not want childish behavior, perhaps you should prove you are not seemingly a child in your thinking … ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓

We may have differences in beliefs but that is no cause to disrespect someone or their beliefs.

Since when should beliefs EVER be respected? If all you are going to do is spew inane and asinine brain diarrhea, then you can bet your last dollar I ain't going to respect those damned beliefs ever.

MY Fourth Commandment of Humanity

4) You shall respect the right of ALL persons to believe whatsoever they wish to believe; even if contradictory to your beliefs. You may discuss beliefs; however, forcing your beliefs onto others is condemnable.

Notice it says to respect your right to believe whatever you wish to believe. But when it comes to respecting the beliefs themselves, “There are no rules.

As said, if you make statements about your beliefs that are nothing more than inane and asinine brain diarrhea, WAAAAHH! Because I will refute anything and everything you can say using any means I desire. Besides, you have done nothing but the same. Unless you are willing to speak some actual true truth, I am going to make fun of your bullshit, shove your nose into your own bullshit, and simply say you are spewing nothing but bullshit.

Remember the definitions and lists for Religious Absolutists. For you are a Religious Absolutist and an Apologist for your preposterous bullshit claims and presuppositions.

If you don't like your bullshit made fun of, the problem is yours, not mine.

If you don't like your nose shoved into your own bullshit, the problem is yours, not mine.

If you don't like your bullshit thrown back at you, the problem is yours, not mine.

Also remember The Eleven Razors:

  1. Sagan's Razor: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
  2. Hitchens's Razor: What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
  3. Arakish's Razor: NO EVIDENCE = NO EXISTENCE. Or, if there is no evidence for "it," then "it" does not exist.
  4. Xenoview's Razor: Objective claims requires objective evidence.
  5. Randomhero1982's Razor: If it's not evidenced, it's bollocks.
  6. Cognostic's Razor: Any dweeb can make an assertion.
  7. LogicFTW's Razor: You MUST first prove your religion/claim is not a con.
  8. CyberLN's Razor: A nice vinaigrette dressing must be served with any word salad.
  9. Nyarlathotep's Razor: Homines quod muta (People is dumb).
  10. Philip K. Dick's Razor: Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
  11. Tin-Man's Butter Knife: Any ridiculous nonsense presented will be countered with opposing ridiculous nonsense of an equal or greater amount.
  • Cognostic's Shovel: When someone starts slinging bullshit at you, get a shovel and sling it back.

Pay particular attention to Tin-Man's Butter Knife and Cognostic's Shovel.

That is your personal assertion. I do not accept it. I do not accept the conclusions you have drawn.

Cognostic's picture
Now, remember I have said

Now, remember I have said clearly that my position is just as rational as yours.
??????????????
Infinite Godless reality? (When does the rationality start. So far we are in woo woo land/)

"anything goes." Why would you think that? What makes you think everything in existence is not exactly the same as what you have here? How did you rule that out? How will you support your assertion "Anything goes?"

Rationality is a human construct. We use it because it works. It is demonstrable. The laws of logic are apriori, as evidenced by their utility. Your god is not.

"It's just as meaningless as my rationality to still believe in God." No it is not. "Rationality the quality of being based on or in accordance with reason or logic."
There is nothing in your God that qualifies.

"You might cry foul and call me ignorant because I still believe in God/" It is not your belief in god that qualifies as ignorant but your attempts at justification for your belief. I will suggest to you what I suggest to my theist friends. Stop trying to justify your belief. It makes you sound silly. All you do is repeat the following.
"I believe because it feels right to me." That's it and nothing more.

Then you have to establish rationality. I just did that. Laws of logic based on observation and outcome. We use them because they work. Please demonstrate your God works.

We don't need to pretend your post has a point when it obviously has no point. Unless the point of it was to have no point in which case you are being hypocritical. Regardless I will accept what you have written as though there was some sort of amorphous lack of meaning behind it and continue smelling the toast in the toaster as it cooks as I imagine butter melting on its hot surface. On this we are in complete agreement even though agreement is an illusion and totally unnecessary. After all, there is no one here to agree with. Just marks forming on a page and no one to imagine their meaning from here to wherever.

"Let's say that I'm living in an infinite reality where God definitely doesn't exist."

You have said that you are a Catholic. Do you worship Jesus as your God?

According to the story Jesus was crucified and died. If Jesus was God then God died for a couple of days. Did the universe fall apart when God was dead? Everything seemed to have continued just as before without any collapse. So if that is the case is God really necessary for our existence? According to the stories he used to be around all the time. People even had picnics with him. Now he is nowhere to be seen or heard. It is like he doesn't even exist. Maybe he doesn't because no one believes in him anyway. Even the people who wrote the story didn't believe it.

Cognostic's picture
Let's imagine you are not in

Let's imagine you are not in reality at all. What the hell!
According to the story Jesus was a bigoted asshole and con man who spit in people's eyes and said you have to hate your family to follow him. He was crucified and died. If Jesus was God then the whole thing was a con game because God died for a couple of days. Unless of course you believe in the trinity in which only one-third of god died. Then again, the bible warns true believers not to believe in all the other Gods. So.... what matter would it be if one of them died. It really means nothing at all.

Did the universe fall apart when one of the Gods was dead? Everything seemed to have continued just as before without any collapse. So, if that is the case was that God really necessary for our existence?

According to the stories he used to be around all the time and still counts the number of hairs on your head. He hates homosexual behavior. And, if you do not love him you will burn in Hell. People once had picnics with him, wrestled with him, and even had sex with him. Now he is nowhere to be seen or heard but still manages to be everywhere and respond to prayers. It is like he doesn't even exist except for when he does and even then it can not be evidenced. Maybe he no one believes in him anyway. Even the imaginary people who wrote the story didn't believe it. (Cog's Shovel Activated)

The three laws of logic
BS is BS. It is the same as itself and it is not anything else.
BS can not be non BS.
BS must be true or not true, It can not be both. There is no middle ground.

catholicray,

catholicray,

"Look forward to more communication with each of you".

Have you ever really thought about some of the things that Yeshua (Jesus) said?

For instance, he said that he was the son of God and that his father is in heaven. OK, that sounds good if that is what he wanted to say. But then he kept rambling. He said on numerous occasions that your (our) father is also in heaven. He also said not to call anyone on Earth your father but then he said that you are to honor your father and your mother. So if your earthly mother is your mother but your earthly daddy is not your father does that mean that the sky fairy screwed all of our mothers? The story says that he screwed Jesus's mother. How can anyone be a bastard if God is the father of all of us? (Deuteronomy 23:2)

And if our father is in heaven is he the actual God entity or just one of the weird creatures that exist in heaven? The fine print on that one is too tiny to read. If he is the actual God entity then we are all related and are Jesus's relatives and God is our father. Jesus is then our brother.

The story says that even Jesus's immediate family members didn't believe him.
