I've never felt so shameful for being a part of humanity

Before coming here, reading what you people are doing here, what you post, how you treat eachother, I've never felt so shameful for being a part of humanity.

Thank you for this lesson.

Shucks, Flatland, I can't

Shucks, Flatland, I can't tell whether you're ashamed of us here at Atheist Republic, as part of humanity, due to what we post, and how we treat each other; or whether it's the rest of humanity that you're ashamed of being a part of, now that coming here has revealed what we post, how we treat each other.

In the former case it's us here that are despicable, and in the latter, it's everyone else who are despicable.

Furthermore, you don't elucidate at all what it is about what we people are doing here, what we post, how we treat each other, that leads you to make you post in the first place.

Cheers,
Mutorc.

A theist comes to an atheist

A theist comes to an atheist website and says (on the same site no less) he does not like what he read.

Color me surprised.
(That last part was sarcasm.)

Course I am seeing lots of evidence of just trolling for responses. If so another point for you lonely troll.

If I were to carry the responsibility of being the creator of humanity, knowing what I know now I would destroy it.

So if you were god, you would destroy humanity based on what a few folks on the internet that you just met said?

That actually does sound a lot like many various popular god ideas I have come across.

Thank you.

Your.... welcome!

Flatland "If I were to carry the responsibility of being the creator of humanity, knowing what I know now I would destroy it."

Then you would be an amoral barbaric scumbag, same as the deity portrayed in your bible. So much for the grandiloquent theistic claims for moral ascendancy. Though shalt not kill, but then you've already shown your capacity to cherry pick your morals from one of the vilest cruellest works of fiction in print, the bible, and avoid any cognitive dissonance either through rank dishonesty, or because you've lost the ability to think rationally with an open mind a long time ago through your religious indoctrination.

I still think you're trolling though, and FWIW you might get some reaction, but ultimately what does that say about you and your beliefs, it's not the atheists here who are seeking out theists to insult them with random ad hominem after all. You've been here a while now, and offered nothing substantive that I have read, only the worst kind of vapid religious rhetoric, and nothing you have said suggests to me that you ever had any interest in a candid debate about your facile claims you seem to think buttress your unevidenced beliefs, you seem to just enjoy the idea of preaching at atheists, though this is typical of a lot of theists who come here. Then get all bent out of shape when their spiel is given short shrift.

@Flatland

Yes, I think we have noticed the theists ability to remain unabashed when their facile superstitious beliefs are subjected a cogent critical thought process. I can see why you you wouldn't enjoy it. Though I must say you struck me as far too closed minded and arrogant to feel embarrassed let alone ashamed this soon.

Any sign of that objective evidence you've been asked to demonstrate for your beliefs, or any cogent rational answers to the objections offered to your tediously endless list of unevidenced assertions?

FWIW I had given you the benefit of the doubt as I do all theists who come here, but you now strike me as a troll, just looking for a reaction.

@Flatland: I've never felt so shameful for being a part of humanity.

You must have led a very sheltered life. I felt ashamed of being human when I learned about the KKK, the Holocaust, Nanking, Tokyo/Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Omagh, 9/11, Rwanda...

Look at the label on the box, This is a debate room. You came into the kitchen. It gets hot sometimes.

His meaning's pretty clear. He thinks we're sorry specimens of humanity. He's judged us and decided that we fall short of his own high standards. I think someone once said "Judge not lest ye be judged", but I can't quite remember who it was.

Flatland, you should be

Flatland, you should be ashamed at yourself. Yes, at times you were treated harshly, but your conduct is just plain shameful.

You make all kinds of claims, and when pressed to prove just one, you evade, or attempt to change the subject, or some other diversion. If you know me at all, you will know I am the last to point fingers and make insults.

But you are an incredibly dishonest and greasy person.

My purpose in coming to a

My purpose in coming to a forum is to explore ideas and make an intellectual connection with other people who have something to say.

So, Flatland, what is it about this that is so shameful?

That we exchange ideas that may make some people uncomfortable?

@Flatland

A few pointers to help.you out.

1) When asked for evidence just say you have none. Making that claim.does not annul your beliefs. That question will.stop coming your way.

2) Claim all your beliefs as opinions and not assertions.

3) Just like any other group of people in the real or cyber world....jerks are everywhere.

4) I personally have agreed with some of your comments and disagreed on others. Not everyone will.admit it when you make a good point and in my opinion some of the same people who make accusations against you are guilty of the same accusations. Don't hold your breath waiting for everyone to be honest.

You are very fortunate indeed if you think we are so shameful in our behaviour. Have you grown up under a rock?

Perhaps have a go at reading a few newspapers and getting out of doors occasionally .

@Flatland Re: "People are free to believe what they want."

Well, I'll be damned. You actually said something with which I wholeheartedly agree. Matter of fact, I am a very strong supporter and defender of that particular sentiment. Besides, how the hell can one person FORCE another person to STOP believing anything in the first place? Taking it a step further, even though you might BELIEVE in something I disagree with and/or think is totally stupid, I would STILL stand up and help defend your right to BELIEVE it. Now, that does not mean I will always refrain from stating my OWN personal beliefs about your beliefs should you choose to air them out in public for all to see. Just because you believe it does not make it special, and it does not exempt your belief from criticism or ridicule. In that same respect, just because you have the right to HAVE a personal belief/opinion, it DOES NOT MEAN you have the right to force that belief on others or to demand/force others to share that belief with you. Big difference. Big, big difference. In other words, I will happily defend a person's right to HAVE a belief, but if that same person starts trying to force that belief on myself or others, then that person is probably going to have a very bad day should I get the opportunity to intervene. So, please, do believe whatever makes you feel good. You don't seem to be trying to force your beliefs on others, so you at least have that going for you. However, if you are sensitive about having those beliefs questioned or criticized, then I would politely suggest you not put them in the spotlight for all to see. Especially in THIS place. Just some friendly FYI.

Tinman seems to have nailed

Tinman seems to have nailed that one. I would add that though that pernicious beliefs being aired publicly must always be challenged. Holding a belief is one thing, publicly voicing harmful bigotry and prejudice, or acting on a belief to openly discriminate is quite another, and should always be challenged.

To be clear I mean objectively pernicious, I don't believe our actions can offend any deity obviously, and thus disobeying archaic superstion's is not in my view harmful unless they can be shown objectively to be so.

1. You are not a part of "humanity." You are living in a fantasy you call humanity. A fantasy of magical monsters, demons, spirits, and the ability ot influence the world with magical words said softly to a magical being. THAT IS NOT HUMANITY.

2. "Sucks to be you!"

Sounds a lot like the wind

Sounds a lot like the wind got taken out of your sails. I'm guessing you encountered a lot more cogent points against your ridiculous ideas that you are now feigning luke-warm adherence to those ideas (i.e. destroying humanity were it in your power, feeling ashamed to be a part of humanity because *gasp* atheists exist)

I feel it's either that, or you are having fun because you have actually accomplished what you came here to do... troll hard and laugh yourself silly pretending that you've actually accomplished something.

Ah, I wondered when you'd play the gotcha I was trolling all along card.

As for angry, I only see one discruntled theist threatening global genocide, in a thread they started to lament and wail at the atheists rejecting their superstitious spiel.

That's you btw, in case you're unsure...bless

So... I gotta ask - does

So... I gotta ask - does anyone on here know of ANY atheist they have ever spoken to who replies to any point made in counter to their arguments with a SONG? I see this SO OFTEN from theists, or even just those who espouse themselves to a "spiritual" mindset. What is with this? Do these people really think that some obscure song/lyric is a cogent answer to a point made in contention to theirs? I mean seriously? I just can't get over the inanity of it, and I finally just felt compelled to say something.
