I've noticed that the presence of a Bible measurably reduces reasoning power in many people.
But I find it hard to believe that a smartphone can do that.
I think it has less to do with the device itself and more to do with the concept of a work distraction. The most public display of this is the typical traffic on roads today. There was a time when people entered an intersection immediately upon seeing a green light. These days not so much. Red lights are phone time and it often goes into the light change to green. Horns blow, fingers are given and the whole of the phone culture now dictates driving trends. Pathetic, but so are many people so it fits.
