Political Guide

As you all know, I am at a young age, but even at my time I can see that people are being used and are being chained away from their rights. I hate corruption, I loathe it, I see it as a high disgrace next to traitors.
My Mother used to work a a Probation Service (I don't know how you translate the Albanian word "Shërbim I Provës" in English), but now she is going through a clash with the Institution because she got fired without any reason at all with only the words which I can translate to "pack your stuff", she has fortunately secured her Victory. She was a Jurist, a Chairwoman.
Although she wishes me not to engage in Politics (as it's not a fruitful life), I just can't turn my head around.

If I were ever to engage as a Politician, can you recommend me the best Political books which can help me learn the best policies to follow, to make a better life for citizens.
I support many Rights, be it LGBT or any other, I support Liberal Democracy, I support Global Trade and Globalism. I am against Racism, Homophobia, Xenophobia and many others.
But just being Pro or Against towards several things isn't enough for me, I believe action is needed.

I'm only being somewhat

I'm only being somewhat sarcastic by recommending this one: The Prince by Nicolo Machiavelli.

This is a great suggested read. Thanks for bringing it up and thanks to Watchman for describing a bit about it.

Sarcasm or no......

Sarcasm or no......

The Prince is a good read for a budding politician....

It may be 500 years old...but you can still see its tennets being used in todays world......

For instance.....

"A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise."

"It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both"

"The first method for estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him."

"Politics have no relation to morals."
