Taz: Evolution in rapid action

Seems there is genetic evidence to support the hypothesis that Tasmanian Devils are evolving rapidly in the face of existential pressure from the deadly contagious cancer called devil facial tumor disease.

The ones with accidental genetic immunity will survive and have more offspring, which will also be immune. The ones that are vulnerable will die off, taking the disease with them. If there are enough of the immune ones, the species will survive, but with a much shallower gene pool.

Or maybe god is intervening to save these beautiful creatures. (Actually the sight of a Tasmanian devil would have made Moses doubt god's sanity.)
