“Tribalism”. Now there’s a topic!

You’ll see it in the big games down to the high school level rivalry... this human instinct is not the same as religion, although it exists obviously within religious culture as well.

As long as you see distinctions between word use/terms and not a “bundle” package...ie people gather, find a common interest BOOM everyone is religious :)

Hey, where did you find that? Looks just like my cousin Crankcase! For many years he was a bouncer at the Crush-&-Grind Club just down the street from the Salvage Yard Thrift Store in the little town where we were assembled. The club (We called it the "C-n-G".) was one of those rough and rowdy heavy metal joints with a very well-deserved bad reputation of being an industrial shredder. Only went there a couple of times myself. Had to armor-up, though, each time. Otherwise you would end up with enough dents, dings, and scratches (and sometimes missing parts) to give the local body repair shop a nervous breakdown.

Yep, "C-C" (That's what everybody called him.) use to tell me all the time about how at the end of every night they would have to sweep up all the loose/broken parts and mop up all the oil before being able to go home. Still, he really did love that job.

(Oh, and don't let that intimidating "Road Warrior" look of his fool you. When not on duty, ol' C-C was about as fierce as a Volkswagen Beetle... *chuckle*...)

Actually, she's right. It's just sociological jargon, but is used as an insult by the ignorant. It's about group loyalty.

Hardly a thing a Catholic should point out about others. Yair, I know that's Tu quo que, but that fair dinkum, patronising humbug from those of a religious persuasion gives me the tom tits.

"It is a group of people gathering in solidarity of their (non)religious belief."

That is an interesting observations, but you deserve a respectful reply from me.

What you see in this forum is a gaggle of people who share just one common perception. We may appear to have solidarity, but the reality is that you see just a very small slice of the entire pie, we differ more than we have in common. Only in here do we display that "solidarity".

But if you apply that generalization and definition, then isn't gaming a religion too? Isn't being a Liverpool fan or for any other sports team a religion? Are the people who spend their lives going from major theme park to major theme park just to ride the biggest roller coasters and a part of their religion? Cosplay? Star Trek fans? Halloween? Knitting circles?

I suggest you abide by the definition of religion, which is "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods."

Because if one was to apply your loose definition, just about any group can be defined as religious.

...yah! What they said... well sort of... I don’t know...

My guess, (is at least with the posters I engage with) agree with the meaning of “atheist”.

I’m here for the social interaction with adults (lol, my eyes welling up with tears, holding in my pee as I use that word) because in real life I don’t get the same opportunity... and to learn and exchange ideas and yes, to “banter” ... to keep apart of myself “uncomfortable” in my beliefs (please, oh please - understand the use of this word in its context) so I can expand.

Some I challenge out of respect, hopefully that comes across....some prove themselves only worthy of shit being shoved in their face.

Edited to add: I fuckin misplaced my post...shit... it was to follow TM/David posts 25-30something after “ Mrs. P Re: "It is a group of people gathering in solidarity of their (non)religious belief."

Have you checked the pockets of the pants you wore yesterday? Or maybe between the seat cushions of your couch? I know I sometimes accidently leave things in the bushes just outside my neighbor's bedroom window, if that helps.... *shrugging shoulders*... Anyway, just keep searching. It's likely to turn up in the last place you look.
