Does it really make a

Does it really make a difference? DST is no more an arbitrary concept than standard time.

Japan is discussing the pros

Japan is discussing the pros and cons of dst. Many supporters think it will boost consumer spending and benefit the environment Labor unions, however, oppose it because it would lead to longer working hours.

They had it once before. It was introduced during the postwar Occupation era, presumably under American and British influence. The Japanese hated it and abolished it as soon they regained their national sovereignty in 1952.

Yeah, but that was 1952, bro.

Yeah, but that was 1952, bro. They sure are discussing it, now.

I think of how America tried the metric system. YOu remember that? What a circus, it was.

@Magnificent Beast: I think of how America tried the metric system.

I love the metric system. I wasted half my childhood in the UK learning feet, inches, acres, fathoms, furlongs, pounds, gallons, ells, and all the rest of it. It was a much a waste of effort as the time I spent learning about gentle f_____ing Jesus meek and mild and the rest of the gang.

But why do Americans find the metric system hard? My car goes 10 km on a liter of gas. My kettle boils at 100 celsius. And your money's always been metric. In the UK and New Zealand I had to cope with pounds, shillings and pence. .

I'm not sure why it was so

I'm not sure why it was so hard for Americans, Algebe. I kind of think, maybe, just maybe, Americans just didn't like being like everybody else, especially Europe. The American Revolution, and all that. That's a big guess. After all, we drive on the wrong side of the road. GMO's are allowed here more, than Europe. Who knows.

It probably had to do with money, like everything seems to be. Maybe someone else probably has more info.

I grew up in Arizona, USA. We

I grew up in Arizona, USA. We did not practice daylight savings time. Everything was just fine. I live now in Kentucky. I hate this practice of moving time around. I have an hour long commute to work. I leave early in the AM and return late afternoon. As the seasons change I get to witness the spring bloom, summer flourish, fall color spectacle, and winter ice crystals on the trees. Sheer beauty. Along with the floral changes I can see the orientation of the sun in the sky coinciding with these changes. Last month I drove round trip in broad daylight. Sun high in the sky. Today I am witnessing the sun being directly in my field of vision both to and from work requiring polarized sunglasses. By the end of December I will be making the round trip in the dark. This is a small but valuable, joy in my life. In a couple of months some jackasses are going to ordain that my natural rhythms are going to get jacked up because why? This helps the retailers or it is better for school kids to be at bus stops in the dark in the morning instead of the pm? Fuck that! Leave time alone!

chimp..... HUGS that's

chimp..... HUGS that's awful, I'm so sorry. Watching nature should be the right of man and woman, and I'm so sorry that your daily pleasure is gone. And I disagree with you, it ISN'T "small". That's a big deal, imo. Joys in life shouldn't be fucked around with.
