So I was raised Catholic. As early as my teenage years I began to question all of it. Basically I ended up rejecting the whole church and bible on the idea it was a fallible thing claiming to be infallible. That is one of my most constant arguments against religion if you claim a source is infallible and it is shown to not be then you may thereby dismiss the entire premise of the claim, and I think it is apparent the bible and the churches are fallible.

Any ways I seem to be de-converting people. I have convinced multiple people to admit they think religion is bs, but they are unwilling to admit it to the general public typically only me. They are basically closet atheists, but the people I have reached typically hate the topic brought up. I think they hate the topic brought up due to the controversy and the stigma associated with it.

My girlfriend is now an atheist, but she was raised as a young earth creationist and to this day she questions evolution. Despite hating the church she was raised in for making her educationally stunted it seems even now the indoctrination is hard for her to give up. She asked me once why I had to hear she is an atheist, and the answer is I didn't I just suspected she had become one. I would be perfectly fine dating a believer god is a plausible thing depending on your definition it is simply unproven. I wanted her to say it because I suspected she had become one, and was so afraid she would lie about it. Frankly it was more important to me that she not deny science than become an atheist and i told her as much. I could care less if she believed a god existed as long as she did not deny the established scientific truths like evolution and the old universe being billions of years old. She no longer does, but I find her still paroting old creationists lines which i will then debunk so she says she accepts it now.

I never set out to make any one an atheist i just seem to keep doing it yet I seem to get some resentment for forcing them to admit the religion is fallible. I have goten out of multiple people you made me stop believing religion after i heard your arguments. My argument is typically if something is claiming to be infallible and can be shown to be fallible it can be rejected, and this seems to have worked on multiple people yet I seem to get some emotional backlash for this.

Anyways thanks for reading your input is appreciated.

Welcome.... I also find

Welcome.... I also find many of the people I know engaging me in conversation about atheism. My number one finding is that they just do not understand it. Within minutes most of my interactions end up with people admitting that they really know nothing at all about God or gods.... (The agnostic position). And then have no way at all of justifying their belief in god other than as a "feel good state."
