And it got frustrating.

It started when I was talking about how DC/Marvel hasn't put out any exciting comics in recent years (in my opinion) and they seemed to be toothless about taking on current events like ISIS (they insisted on using ISIL, but whatever). Now, instead of making the point of just keeping the conversation tied to how they don't do current events I instead decided (to my folly) to focus on her choice of words with the term “fake Muslim” when I tried to reason that he was wrong to use the term (claiming to be informed on them) said that they weren't real Muslims. I protested countering by saying all they need to do (more or less) is say they are and they are.

He then fires back telling me that he could say he's a Muslim and lie about it because it would be a lie since they're really a Shintoist (let that set the tone for the rest of this). So he kept dismissing my points because I'm an Anti-Theist (so of course we all know that means its IMPOSSIBLE to look objectively at these things). This goes on for nearly an hour. We settle on their evil people who need to be stopped. He reasoned that since groups before have said they're one thing but really are something else that ISLI aren't “real Muslims” while I counter their holy texts say they are. I mean, its not like being a doctor where you HAVE to be tested, verified and whatnot to prove that you are a doctor, so with that I reasoned that anyone can be one if they claim it.

So he still hangs onto that whole thing about how we'll never really know if they are or aren't. Sometimes I think I'd have less headaches if I were still considering myself a lax Christian, but everyone here knows that once you wake up you can never go back to sleep. I'll give them points for not saying "Islam is Peace".
