To be honest with you, most of us just ignore Diotrephes unless he makes a really big mistake. This one is the biggest I have ever seen him make in the year I have been here. Now that I know his true colors as being anti-Semitic, and being one of those dumb ass curmudgeons I would throw rocks through his windows, I simply do not understand why they let him be.
In my opinion, he is actually a Religious Absolutist and lacking the intelligence, and is posing as an atheist. He has yet to prove to me he is an atheist. Acts more like a demonic Christian.
I know it is not my fault, Ms. Rivka, but please accept my apology on his behalf. Christians most often do not even understand their own minds.

I am not religious. I do not believe in any religion of any kind.
Therefore I am not a Religious Absolutist. Even if you think that I am an idiot I consider myself to be more intelligent than that, at least a moron. I know about the Bible, the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and the Talmud. Of the four the Talmud is the biggest bunch of garbage. It has no redeeming qualities. I am not afraid to say that it is shit.

Settle Gretel.If you had read some of Dio's more eccentric theories elaborated in earlier threads, you would have realised that he is very much in his dotage. A bit like 'Father William' in the old rhyme. Don't take his shit personally.
Off stage and away from his own pet trigger phrases, he can debate quite well, just he has some uh, 'theories and fixed ideas' that are, um, less than logical or, indeed, evidenced. But he will defend them with bared teeth and snarls.
Take it with humor. It took me a few 'debates' to realise what buttons not to push, and which replies to ignore. Having said all that, love your work Rivka, and read your entire reply with great interest and it has kindled a desire to look further into your sources. Brilliant stuff, thank you.

Comparing evils on this scale is a bit of paradox. What do atheists care anyway. There’s no consequences for it. There’s no God in heaven preparing a place in Hell for the evil doers. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust - for everyone.
Can you think of anything more evil than eternal torture?

Where do you get that idea? It is not biblical.
You don’t see? I don’t believe in the God of the Bible nor am I a Creationist. I believe in a Supreme Being. Not any being who hands down laws to men - tells them to commit genicide and whatnot.
The OverLord sends men to their destinies according to the lives they have lived and the wrongs or rights they have commited. Only He is justice.
If you cannot think of anything worse than eternal torture, then you are saying that an evil should be punished by an even greater evil.
The key word is “punishment”. Men commit evils and must therefore be punished. I do not believe a sentence in Hell is eternal. I cannot even say for certain that there is anyone in Hell. What I can say for certain is that Hell exists. And for those who fear Hell, evil is not an option. For those who do not fear the OverLord or Hell - then it becomes an option for them. It is not a greater evil. It is a punishment. Why is punishment evil? Punishment is justice. Is it evil to lock a man away in prison if he commits murder?

If you designed a thing knowing it would commit murder, then you are fully culpable.
In my view, the emphasis should be on rehabilitation and limiting harm rather than punishment. Torturing someone is just carrying out another evil. If you send people to hell to whom hell was not an effective deterrent, you are just inflicting harm on individuals who do not have full culpability for their actions.

Now how do we view a being with limitless choice that creates beings knowing they will commit mass murder, and that encourages them to do so? a being that also sulks when they do what it must have known they would do, and commits mass murder itself on a global genocidal scale.
So the god of the bible then, and the best theists like rat spit, who worship this deity, can do is ask atheists why they care about the suffering of others.

Stretch that little autistic brain of yours far enough to imagine a world in which a Supreme Being has risen to the top - but wasn’t the Creator of man or universe.
I don’t blame the OverLord for creating imperfect man or universe. He simply exists as the most perfect being in this world. His will is incontestable - thus whatever fate he aligns any particular man with is justified. Such men can whine all they want. If the OverLord wills it, it cannot be contested. His will is justice. His will is perfect. He punishes evil and rewards good.

You’re assuming Creationism. I am not a Creationist. I just happen to know that, in this universe, the OverLord is the Supreme Being. I didn’t say anything about Him designing us or giving us free will. He just hands out the rewards for our deeds.

The purpose of Hell is fear. If you fear Hell, you will avoid the actions which may land you there. If you don’t fear Hell, then take your chances - do what Hitler did - see how well the OverLord reacts to the kind of life you’ve lived. Simple. Lead a good life - go to a happy destination after death. Don’t ; face the consequences.
You talk of rehabilitating criminal minds, but fear for ones ethical Being is the only thing that can straighten a person out.
If you don't believe in hell or don't fear it, then hell is not a deterrent. If you know you will receive a punishment proportionate to your misdeeds, why would you do the misdeeds? And if you know the punishment is worse than the misdeeds, why would you claim that the being that dishes out the punishment is ethical?
So then what purpose does hell serve?

I’ll take another attempt at your questions.
A) if you don’t believe in Hell or aren’t afraid of Hell, it is not a deterrent- however you may still wind up there if you commit evils because evil must be contained.
B) People who are afraid of Hell still commit evils because they are human.
C) The punishment is worse than the misdeed because the OverLord’s Will is final and uncontested.
For example. When I was introduced to Hell I did not consider my self an evil person; I did not consider whatever unethical actions I had taken in life - the only thing I considered was “Will this Being put me there” and “what a horrible, definitive way of saying goodbye to the universe”.
He does whatever He feels is necessary. And history shows that the punishments for crimes are often far greater than the consequence of the misdeed. It is necessary to impose strict punishments and confinement is the only type which removes the evil-doer from the population.

Do you think it’s necessary to tell me in this statement that I have asinine hubris? Or do you realize what a git you really are.
If you see a red object are you epistemically justified in believing or knowing that it is red? What stops you from being certain the object is red?
What about deities that create men, do they carry no culpability for their actions? Surely the more choice a being has the greater the culpability they possess for their actions, even fallible evolved mammals recognise this much and enact laws accordingly.
