There is actually a group called Virtuous Pedophiles. It is a celibacy support group with members who recognize their biology is a wreck and are doing everything they can to prevent damage. I did a quick check of their website a few years ago.

Roman Catholic priests have raped children. Therefore your argument that believers of god stay in line is a bust. I just proved that religion is not the path to moral behavior.
The extreme range of moral behavior is the psychopath, they are not capable of empathy or "mercy" towards others. But they are a very small minority. For most of us, it is a balance between selfishness, caring for others, and not breaking the law.
Selfishness is a good thing in many ways, it drives us to survive and propagate. Obviously too much selfishness almost always comes at a cost to others. We all know about the selfish asshole who walks on others to get promoted.

No, I strongly disagree on that. I posses selfish characteristics, but I always try to to the right thing. I will give a true example. I used to work for a major telecommunications provider, and did service calls. On customer turned out to be two old sweet ladies living alone in a 60's era split level. When I entered their residence is was obviously dated, with old furniture and a very ancient television. No car, everything indicated to me that they did not have much money. I repaired their service, and before I left one lady tried to slip me $60. I refused but she forcibly put that money in my hand. But on the way out I had the opportunity to slip that sixty bucks back into the hands of her companion.

Why do you assume that I am not a moral person and that I go out of my way to mistreat my fellow human beings. I always try to live my life morally & kindly as much as I can think of. It was religion that taught me morals and kindness. I learned about the opposite from people outside of church.
I am furious that those I trusted to set an example to do the right thing have turned out to be the most dangerous, depraved, monsters on this planet and that they have taken what SHOULD have been a force for good and turned it evil. I did do something, much more than try. I took action, what any responsible and moral person should do. But then again, I am not surprised. Your god is the type that would watch a rape and then inflict punishment rather than actually stop the rape itself.

I took positive action, much more than just wandering around, fluttering my hands about and saying "we have to talk about this", or praying. I sent an email to the appropriate law enforcement authorities and directed them to the content of the disturbing posts.
Sadly, this can be the warning signs. Many mass shooters in the US indicate their intentions or disturbing beliefs before they commit atrocities. But sadly many who witness such signs just do nothing but make bleating noises at best. As a person with morals, I actually do something in the hope that I may actually stop evil from happening.
Either way, a troll or someone with sick desires, this "Anne" now regrets coming here. Because the law authorities in my nation take this seriously and are very aggressive in preventing such sickness from continuing. That person is now on the radar of many different nation's sex crimes police units.

I've been continuing my protests coordinating signs for SNAP and the women's march in between protesting to any group or individual I can find discussing pedophilia or misogyny in the Church. I just hit 2,508 today. Next - sending letters to every AG in the US with notices on the Canon Law pedophile references.
I wish I still had the journal articles of studies done by Duke Medical Center in North Carolina and the Mayo Clinic up in Minnesota. They did studies on all sexual predators, rapists and pedophiles. In their studies, the conclusions they proposed is that no sexual predator can be rehabilitated into society. The final conclusions they proposed was that virtually ALL sexual predators either had to be incarcerated for life or executed. They also did say that this was not the case for all sexual predators. They also mentioned that further neurological and psychiatric studies into why were needed.
My conclusion, which is biased, is that all sexual predators should, in the least, be incarcerated for life. In truly biased opinion, they should just be executed. My opinions only.

With the legal appeals, I heard of one study that life imprisonment is cheaper then execution. It is sad that society puts a higher premium on keeping murderers alive than using the resources to feed starving children.
In a more Utopian world, the goal would be to feed both.

Very few sexual predators were redeemable. Only about 1%. In other words, only about 1 out of every 100 sexual predators are redeemable. Most often, they use the "I have seen the light" tomfoolery of getting "saved" to get released and do it all over again.
Life imprisonment cheaper than execution? That actually depends on the number of years a person has to live. Most sexual predators do not get captured until they are into their forties. Thus, far fewer years than capturing one who is 20. The cut off is about 40 to 45 years imprisonment. When it comes to child predators, here in America, they usually do not survive long in the general populace of a prison. Even murderers and rapists do not tolerate child predators. Guess it is some disgusting sense of morality. Or disgusting honor code.
Complete Castration? It is unknown whether that would solve the problem or not. You are forgetting the "inhumane punishment" clause in one of the Bill of Rights.

For what its worth, I recall some states in the US trialled chemical castration on repeat rapists. Sorry I have no references on hand, but the results were mixed and depended on the rapist. Most memorable were reports on those offenders who had committed particularly violent attacks.
The castration worked but on release they still committed violent attacks on random victims. The castration dealt only with their sexual ability not their psychotic violent urges.

I met the man in this story a number of times when I was involved in politics in New Zealand. I found him extremely judgmental (especially toward gays). In his speeches he constantly ranted about so-called Xtian family values and the need to protect our children from gay men. He wielded considerable power as as a police prosecutor. And all the time he was molesting little girls.
That is the attitude of the previous entity in possession of the vatican & the young, gay, man I met while protesting outside my home parish. Benne Dick's response after comparing women priests to pedophiles was to try to eliminate the "lavender mafia" of homosexual priests. Because pedophilia might only be a problem if males are being raped. Apparently that is the function of little girls. That is the opinion of a LOT of the clergy.
The young, gay man was manplaining to me that the church did have a pedophile problem, it had a homosexual problem and wasn't an issue because he had felt perfectly safe growing up in the parish.

While folks here keep focusing on the church, there's a hell of a lot more to the problem. 'Liberal' Hollywood has a big problem with it. And there is a movement within the psychology world to re-cast this as a marginalized 'sexual orientation' and advocating they be treated with tolerance as long as they aren't found molesting anyone.
Good Morning America recently did a rather fawning story about an 11 year boy groomed as a drag queen by his mother, and among other things does his show in adult gay clubs. Is this the progressive 'new normal'? How soon before those of us who denounce crap like this are labelled bigots?
There are a lot of data concerning sex-related offenses, the offenders, and recidivism rates. The studies that have been conducted show varying results. What seems to be one consistent finding is that these crimes are significantly under reported.
A factor is age, or length of time offending. If ‘caught’ and treated as juveniles, studies show that the recidivism rate is lower. This may be because of treatment that is received early (before the brain has completed its development), people associated with the juvenile offender who won’t ignore it (thereby wont unwittingly facilitate it), and / or the behavior hasn’t had years of repeats (habituation).
So far as priests, I suspect (with not data to back it up) that there may be a higher population of pedophiles in the priesthood because, as juveniles, they entered seminary hoping ‘a closer relationship’ with their god would diminish the urges they were having. It doesn’t.
To me, the bottom line is that we, as a society, as families, the medical community, schools, all need to be able to recognize potential issues EARLY and deal with them before they evolve into behaviors that end up victimizing others.
The 11 year old drag queen incident above also sounds terrible.

THE PRIESTHOOD WOULD BE WORSE AS THE VATICAN ORDERED THE COVERUP and the bishops have nearly no means of getting rid of offending priest. Through total deranged incompetence they turned the Church into the WORLD' LARGEST, 'LEGAL' underage human trafficking ring 100 years ago. I'm sure the world spread like wildfire through the kiddie porn networks that the Catholic priesthood was the world's safest haven.
The one saving grace is that now that the world is starting to catch on, it should be relatively easy for law enforcement to scoop them up - which is what I plan to tell the AG's.
