No. The worst was 1962. The Soviet Union and the United States came close to nuclear war in the Cuban missile crisis. The UK government proudly announced the "3-minute warning," which was supposed to give us to time to get to our non-existent shelters before the the missiles hit, and Marilyn Monroe died. It was a miserable time of endless fear.
