The Hypocrisy of Scrutiny

I have always scrutinized. As a human it is our nature to scrutinize. What is odd though is that theist don't apply this practice with regards to religious beliefs.
Have you ever had to defend the simplest scientific fact to a theist, like evolution or carbon dating? The theist seem ready to scrutinize every single point. They won't do it for religion though. When arguing (because you can't debate or even hold a civil conversation with these people) with theist they always fall back on their most inane defense of a belief in a god...."you must have faith." They won't have faith that thousands of well trained scientist have independently come to the same conclusion. Instead they want to personally scrutinize every step of scientific discovery.
I am astonished at the utter hypocrisy.

If they all scrutinized like

If they all scrutinized like atheists there would be no religious people, im surprised it doesnt say in the religious text "though shall not scrutinize".

If they did say that, then

If they did say that, then there would be even less reason not to since that would be an attempt at keeping you from doing something that comes natural to humans. Then again it's not like the Bible or anything more is against doing other natural things like having sex and keeping ones genitals intact, right? Wait...........

I do think that you MUST be a

I do think that you MUST be a hypocrite with yourself and others to be a Theist.

Though in their defense, science claims to not require belief, thus it is OK to scrutinize it, which is what science is all about.

The more something is criticized/scrutinized the closer it gets to the truth.
That is what science is all about.

So I do not blame them for scrutinizing something, I blame them for not criticizing their own religion and believe it on faith alone.
That they think that faith trumps logic.
= gullibility thumps truth and common sens.

They see a contradiction and they just ignore it, as if they never discovered it.

That hypocrisy with yourself is unforgivable, to lie to yourself to feel better is unforgivable, especially when it effects others (like your children) is unforgivable.

I cannot forgive that and that is why I call them all hypocrites.

Self acknowledged hypocrites.

Agreed Jeff. It isn't the fact that theist scrutinize science. Science welcomes such scrutiny. It's the fact that they don't apply the same scrutiny to their own belief system.
