Yes. You should have known better. But that's what religion does to you.

Pearls?... Fergie was throwing PEARLS???... *puzzled look*... Odd... Because they certainly bore a striking resemblance to a pile of rabbit pellets I found out in my yard the other day.... *scratching head*...

“Good bye and God bless.
One day you’ll thank me. Hahaha”

I doubt that people need the blessing of an imaginary God. And I also doubt that people here will ever bother to think seriously about you after you have gone (let alone thank you for your preaching). But good luck on the rest of your journey with the ancient religious unscientific beliefs … only thing is, please try not to do what many religious people do when trying to force those supernatural superstitions onto vulnerable young children in schools.

Cat Stevens - Wild World -

Cat Stevens - Wild World -

Now that I've lost everything to you
You say you want to start something new
And it's breaking my heart you're leaving
Baby, I'm grieving
But if you want to leave, take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
I'll always remember you like a child, girl
You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breaking my heart in two
'Cause I never want to see you sad girl
Don't be a bad girl
But if you want to leave take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
Beware
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
And I'll always remember you like a child, girl
Baby I love you
But if you want to leave take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
Beware
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
And I'll always remember you like a child, girl
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
And it's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it's a wild world

@Ferguson 1951 "Wild World"

That song was written before Cat Stevens converted to Islam, but it already shows hints of the male condescension that we associate with Islamic culture. ("And I'll always remember you like a child, girl")

This man was a supremely talented singer-songwriter who created a string of classic songs about life, love, and human relationships before falling prey to the perversion of Islam. Were you aware, Ferguson, that he several times endorsed the Fatwah against Salman Rushdie?

So I'm wondering why you, who are apparently a Christian, quoted the full lyrics of this song, and why you thought it was relevant here. Somehow I associate you more with "Moon Shadow" or "I Love My Dog".

Oh boy, a new topic, song lyrics. Was afraid you left us there for a moment Fergie. Someone must have stolen your login and said you were leaving for good.

Great first choice, love me some Yusuf Islam. Here's one I like:

Rush - Freewill

There are those who think
That life has nothing left to chance
A host of holy horrors
To direct our aimless dance

A planet of playthings
We dance on the strings
Of powers we cannot perceive
The stars aren't aligned
Or the gods are maligned
Blame is better to give than receive

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill

There are those who think
That they were dealt a losing hand
The cards were stacked against them
They weren't born in Lotus Land

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill

"Highway to Hell"

Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too
I'm on the highway to hell
On the highway to hell
Highway to hell
I'm on the highway to hell
No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me around
Hey Satan, paid my dues
Playing in a rocking band
Hey mama, look at me
I'm on my way to the promised land, whoo!
I'm on the highway to hell
Highway to hell
I'm on the highway to hell
Highway to hell
Don't stop me
I'm on the highway to hell
On the highway to hell
I'm on the highway to hell
On the highway
Yeah, highway to hell
I'm on the highway to hell
Highway to hell
Highway to hell
And I'm going down
All the way
Whoa!
I'm on the highway to hell

Just because many atheists I know use logic and rational thought, that does not mean all atheists practice such logic.

“I wouldn't say atheism is a faith like any other faith, I would say some atheist have faith in their beliefs like some other faiths.”

The word “Faith” has become strongly associated with religion, where it typically means belief without evidence.

Atheists believe all sorts of things. Most atheists believe that the established explanations and theories of science are probably true (evolution, relativity, quantum theory for example). But atheists believe those things upon vast mountains of tried and tested evidence (many things around us in the world today only work or can only be explained if those scientific theories are correct or else very, VERY close to correct).

So faith is really the wrong the word to use when talking about what atheists believe. Just as faith would be the wrong word if you said scientists were using faith to tell us what we should believe.

Religious preachers are however relying entirely upon “Faith”, ie belief in things that are not supported by evidence. And nowadays (due to the progress of science over the last 100 to 150 years) that actually means belief in religious claims that are in direct conflict with all known evidence from science.

noreason's picture
Ian ... That's a great way

Ian ... That's a great way good way to put it. The words 'any other faith" doesn't really fit to me either. I see it more like "some". The line gets blurred and I think there are different levels of faith too. "blind faith" in magic is silly and i feel most atheist don't use blind faith as much as theist do. I have "faith" in what most scientist say in their respective fields but like you said that is different.

"faith" is one of those things I say to theist "yeah, I have it lets move on to the magic stuff."

I'm not sure what we're meant

I'm not sure what we're meant to be having faith in. That we're here and we exist? Science can explain how we came to exist without the need for the God. It doesn't quite cover the creation of our universe itself yet but I don't think you can really successfully stick a Bible into the hole, there's nothing in the Bible about any Big Bangs, astrophysics or evolution.

I was born in a crossfire hurricane
And I howled at the morning driving rain

But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash

I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag
I was schooled with a strap right across my back

But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash
It's a gas, gas, gas

I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled, yeah yeah
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread, yeah yeah yeah
I was crowned with a spike right through my head, fuck my head

But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash
It's a gas, gas, gas

I suspect admin won't like this. No citation, not even quotation marks.

Personally I prefer Sympathy With The Devil, or Paint It Black.

You might want to delete it, or at least give a proper citation.

It also violates another forum guideline as it has no relevance to the topic at hand. Admin are pretty laid back on that one, but I suspect if you keep flooding threads with song lyrics that have no relevance and without citing the lyricist, they will do what you lied about doing, and end your facile preening egotistical rants.

Psalm 14

Psalm 14

1"1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. 4 Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD. 5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge. 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!"

So Ferguson 1951 is still

So Ferguson 1951 is still trolling, and still lying about leaving. Quelle surprise, if he had any cogent thoughts he would have posted them by now.

Note he quotes the bible again, but continues to ignore my question as to whether it condemns his duplicity. Note also he cherry picks another Einstein quote, yet failed to respond when I posted an excerpt from one of Einstein's letters citing the bible's stories as childish fables for the weak minded.

Dishonest to the end will probably be etched on his gravestone. Though the words "and deluded" could just as easily be added to his epitaph.

What objective evidence can you demonstrate for any deity, Ferguson?

Day after day
Alone on a hill
The man with the foolish grin
Is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Well on the way
Head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices
Talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round, oh oh oh, 'round 'round 'round 'round
He never listens to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Oh, 'round 'round 'round 'round, oh

"Human Touch"

You and me we were the pretenders
We let it all slip away
In the end what you don't surrender
Well the world just strips away

Girl ain't no kindness in the face of strangers
Ain't gonna find no miracles here
Well you can wait on your blessings but darlin'
I got a deal for you right here

I ain't lookin' for prayers or pity
I ain't comin' 'round searchin' for a crutch
I just want someone to talk to
And a little of that human touch
Just a little of that human touch

Ain't no mercy on the streets of this town
Ain't no bread from heavenly skies
Ain't nobody drawin' wine from this blood
It's just you and me tonight

Tell me in a world without pity
Do you think what I'm askin's too much?
I just want something to hold on to
And a little of that human touch
Just a little of that human touch

Oh girl that feeling of safety you prize
Well it comes with a hard hard price
You can't shut off the risk and pain
Without losin' the love that remains
We're all riders on this train

So you been broken and you been hurt
Show me somebody who ain't
Yeah I know I ain't nobody's bargain
But hell a little touch up
And a little paint...

You might need somethin' to hold on to
When all the answers they don't amount to much
Somebody that you can just talk to
And a little of that human touch

Baby in a world without pity
Do you think what I'm askin's too much?
I just want to feel you in my arms
And share a little of that human touch...

The Devil went down to

The Devil went down to Georgia on the highway to hell, but decided to take a detour at the crossroads along the way. Just three miles from the rest stop he slammed on the brakes, because he felt a little unwell. And it was there on that long lonesome highway east of Omaha that he noticed a sign pointing toward the stairway to Heaven. Well, since he was feeling that way, he decided to make the journey as faithfully as he could. "After all," he told himself, "these boots were made for walkin', and that's just what they'll do."

So, before he knew it, the Devil was knockin' on Heaven's door. From behind the door he heard a female voice calling out, "Somebody's knockin'! Should I let him in?" Then after a brief pause, the same voice exclaimed, "Lord, it's the Devil! Would you look at him? I've heard about him, but I never dreamed he'd have blue eyes and blue jeans!" Eventually the door opened, and there stood Terri Gibbs wearing an itsy-bitsy teenie-weenie yellow polka dot bikini. Somewhat startled, the Devil took one step forward, then two steps back, because he knew opposites attract. He suddenly thought, "Oo, oo, oo, I'm on fire," and felt like he was headed into a tunnel of love.

A brief, but awkward, sound of silence followed, after which the Devil found himself asking, "Uh, do you know the way to San Jose?" A bit perplexed, Terri stepped through the doorway, pointed to her left, and answered, "Uh, yeah, it's just three doors down." Totally embarrassed by his blunder, the Devil suddenly yelled, "Abracadabra!" Then there was a bright flash, and a huge puff of white smoke like a magic dragon! As the smoke cleared, the Devil felt like a free bird, and he decided to fly like an eagle to the sea where he intended to live in a yellow submarine and explore the octopus gardens. The End.
