I just tried it on my ipad, and it seems to be working; you may have to double tap the link for it to work. If you could try it again to check if it works and if it still doesn't work properly please let me know the specific blog/news posts so I can investigate it further.

Thanks

Howdy,

Howdy,

User Profile section > User Comments....any way to get 'jump to page x' function? Some folks have a couple hundred pages of comments and to get to the early ones takes a ton of page clicking.

I noticed the ability to send

I noticed the ability to send a message to a user no longer exist if you look up a users profile. Has it been discontinued?

is it for all members or just

is it for all members or just certain members?

When registering, members have the option to allow or disallow messages from other members --they may have selected the disallow option. Also we are currently working on some of the member comunication functionality of the site; I will check on the status and see if anything we are currently working on is causing the issue.

I just checked my account and

I just checked my account and I did choose to to allow messages from other members I have gotten them /sent them before I will check and see the profile of a member I sent message to in the past to see if it is still possible from within their profile.

Zaphod's picture
I checked their profile and

I checked their profile and and the option to end them a message is not there. I also went to my account settings to see if the option to send or messages there was a check box to choose to plain text email only but no box to toggle between whether I would like to be able to send and receive messages form other users. Before I could send and receive messages to and from other users from within my account. I liked how it was set up, before I would sign in or go to the forum and it would say if I had any unseen messages. I checked everything in a IE browser too to see if it was a browser related issue but everything was exactly the same.

Noticed this function is back. Thx!

Yeah thanks for putting that

Yeah thanks for putting that function back, I also really like the division of post in the profile area for different areas of the site where the person you are looking up has posted. It makes for a much better way to find previous post.

Once the major bugs are squashed, can you add Tapatalk support? I'm not sure how much trouble it would be.

Sometimes I want to search

Sometimes I want to search the forums for topics or subjects that I know have been covered but if I use the "Search the Site..." bar you only get results for elsewhere on the site. I think it would be really helpful, make the site much more useful, and save a boatload of time if there was a "Search the Forums..." bar perhaps below the "Search the Site..." bar that only gave results returned from within the forums.

Jeff Vella Leone's picture
Well that is problematic I

Well that is problematic I think, because there are so many repetitions and topic titles which do not match the content that indexing that would become very hard.

I suggest that a voting system of a good topic is introduced and then that is indexed, this way the search is much faster and it is done on a modified topic title.

So basically when a topic is deemed good for research a new topic with an appropriate subject title is created and the content is copied in it.
Then that is indexed and whoever is searching for something regarding a particular subject will find it instantly on the forum search feature since the title matches the content.

I noticed while looking

I noticed while looking through a profile, even my own, when I click on a post or comment, it takes me to the topic but not to the comment withing the topic with some of these topics running many pages long I think it would be much better to make it it brought you to that post within the topic if this is possible.

Jeff Vella Leone's picture
yea that is possible

yea that is possible

I also noticed that the inbox vanished from my profile and to access it i need to make a new message.

Then it takes me to a place where I can compose my new message but I can see a tab for my inbox.

This is the only way i can access my inbox, which is funny since I have asked recently if it was possible to have better access for it and instead it got even worse lol

I finally can go to my inbox

I finally can go to my inbox with easy, thanks a lot for fixing this for everybody.

Just a suggestion for the

Just a suggestion for the default user profile image.

It's a bit confusing (at least for me) that most non-atheist have the default picture of the lion, and then get forum replies from atheists who also have the default picture of the lion. Perhaps it would be better to have a separate default image for non-atheists? (Why not a donkey with a question-mark above it? Just kidding :) I'm starting to associate the image of the lion with creationists.

Or even better, randomly generated default images of simple patterns for each user, like on github.com.

ThePragmatic's picture
There is a confusing

There is a confusing behaviour (or a bug?) when replying to other posts.

The first line that I'm expecting to be the user name, linking to the user, is instead the 30(isch) first characters of the first line of the post content.

For example, if I click "reply" on Travis Hedglins post:
http://www.atheistrepublic.com/forums/debate-room/wall-street-journal-ar...
I get this:

--------------

I would also like to talk to <-- This is a link back to the post in its context.

I would also like to talk to you about problems with probability:

1. The data is only as good as the set.
...

-------------

This becomes extra confusing when people are naming others on the first line, to address a certain person. For example: http://www.atheistrepublic.com/forums/debate-room/wall-street-journal-ar...
I looks just like Nyarlathotep wrote the post, instead of the real author, Chuck Rogers.

I'll get someone brainier than me to look at that guys.

Perhaps this is a idea that

Perhaps this is a idea that is against some site policy or perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong place, but would it be useful to have a non public atheist only forum? Or should I be looking for this kind of feature somewhere else? In that case, where?
Another option would perhaps be to send personal messages to groups of people?
